Show Assistance Available For Home Heating A state program that helps qualified low-income Utah residents resi-dents pay for utilities to heat their homes will once again offer assistance this fall and winter. The HEAT (Home Energy Assistance Target) program will begin accepting applications Nov. 1 from eligible low-income low-income residents who are unable to pay their electricity and fuel bills for home heating during the approaching cold-weather months. Eligible low-income applicants appli-cants include the disabled, elderly, eld-erly, and families with preschool-age children. Applicants must provide identification, Social Security cards for all people age 18 or older in the home, proof of income, and a copy of the most recent bill from each utility company, or a printout from those compapies showing the home's energy costs during the coldest months. Residents in Garfield County may apply as follows: In Escalante on Mondays from 10 a.m. until noon and from 1 p.m. until 3 p.m. at the Seniors Center; in Panguitch on Wednesdays from 10 a.m. until noon and from 1 p.m. until 3 p.m. at the Department of Workforce Services. In Tropic on Thursday from 10 a.m. until noon at the Scout House; and in Henrieville on Thursdays from 1 p.m. until 3 p.m. at the Senior Center. Last fall and winter, a record 33,679 households in Utah received utility payment help from HEAT. HEAT is a federally funded program administered in Utah by the Division of Housing and Community Development and local community outreach agencies. agen-cies.
