One day this past week amid a brisk breeze, the sun shining between feathery clouds, and a flock of good-sized good-sized blue-gray birds daring around the yard, it almost gave a feeling of spring just looking from the window. win-dow. The thermometer, though, says 20 degrees. Stay in the house. Alta Orton has had surgery in Cedar City. Her family reports that she came through it all right and will be home soon. Her daughter, JoAnn Jones, will stay with her while she is recovering. Art Cooper is here from Texas where he has been staying with his kids. He is here to check the progress prog-ress on his new house. The high roof is on and the inside partitions and stairway are in place. Art caught up on Beverly Crosby's supply of Garfield County News issues. The root is on the new multipurpose multi-purpose building at the fair grounds. It gives us some idea of how large it is going to be. The Bob Smiths went to Ogden to attend a grandson's mission farewell. They helped a granddaughter grand-daughter celebrate her birthday and then Bob attended the Utah Green Industry Conference in Sandy to catch up on the latest ideas in nursery nurs-ery innovations. Faye Worthen's grandson is living liv-ing at the local care center now. The Jeramy Henrie's new home is all enclosed now. It will make the inside work more pleasant. Dave and Michelle Schow's new house is ready for inside painting. Michelle says she is hoping to move in by March. Ron and Heidi Gavin, owners of the R & H Rain Gutter business, have moved into Vera Wilcock's house. The David Frandsens have moved to Panguitch where he works at the Garfield Memorial Hospital as a physical therapist. They presented the program in the Panguitch LDS 3rd Ward. Little three-year-old daughter, Darri sang a song and her parents spoke. Baby son Jaren helped out. Kaylin Roundy was the youth speaker and the ward choir sang beautifully. The Panguitch High School Sophomore girls won their touma- ! ment. Congratulations. In the Panguitch LDS 2nd ' Ward, Mitchell Moore was sustained sus-tained to be ordained a priest. Kel-cie Kel-cie Schow was the youth speaker. She spoke on Smiles. Shaine Anderson An-derson spoke on "gratitude" and Phil Singleton told about "the power of one person." Young J.D. and Chauncey Singleton sang "Families Can Be Together Forever" For-ever" with the help of two-year-old sister Mersadee. In the Panguitch LDS 4th Ward, Crystal Gilbert reported her New York mission. Lonnie Millgate was the youth speaker. On the site of the old Ruland Veater house, Richard Crofts is putting put-ting up the walls of his storage units. Renee Owens had back surgery in Cedar City. She came through it fine and hopefully will be home to recover soon. Orson Worthen had knee surgery and is getting around well. Orson and Ruby's son is here with his folks. The old Errol "yog" Dowdell house on Main street is now owned' by Lamar Jolley and is receiving an addition to make a larger business building. Sisters Norma Talbot . and Pauline Prince went to St. George where they visited with family members. Norma stayed with Norma Jean and Kay Bundy, then she and other family members went to Cedar City to attend the LDS mission farewell of the Art Talbot's son, Jay, who is going to Canada. The Bundy s, Tom, Maxine and Gary Talbot and Roma and Hal Wilcock were all there. Pauline stayed in St. George to help daughter-in-law Debby Prince by caring for the grandchildren. JoAnn Orton has just returned from a month long stay in Denver, CO with daughter, Nida and family. She reports she had a wonderful time and enjoyed the family a lot. John and RaeLynn LeFevre Johnson visited in town with her dad. Dee LeFevre, brother Jerry and Deanna LeFevre and friends. Aaron Henrie, son of Val and Lorraine Henrie and grandson of Lowell and Alice Henrie, called to say he has received his mission call to New Hampshire. Brooklyn Kapri Orton, daughter of Jason and Annette Orton, was blessed by her father, Jason. Several Sev-eral members of Jason's and Annette's An-nette's families were in attendance. Jason baptized his niece Kesley while they were here. Justin Reeve, son of Brad and Sharlee Reeve, was ordained a teacher. Aubry Parkin, daughter of Shawn and Vonnie Parkin, was baptized by her father. Both sets of grandparents and other family members were there to witness the event. Aimee Higbee, daughter of Bob and Virginia Bruhn Higbee of Cedar City was married to Christopher Uchman in Cedar City. Virginia is a daughter of the late Vee and Rama Yardley Bruhn of Panguitch. Aimee and Christopher will live in California. Kody Mitchell, son of Kirk and Phyllis Dickinson Mitchell, married mar-ried Rachel Everett in the St. George LDS Temple. Phyllis is a daughter of Roene and the late Phil Dickinson of Panguitch. McCall Marlene Tebbs, daughter daugh-ter of Tim and Monica Miller Tebbs, was blessed by her father. Grandparents are Mel and Marlene Miller and Mike and Margaret Tebbs. Great-grandparents are Afton and Dene Julander, the late Bern and Lyle Miller and the late Ray and Verda Tebbs. Reba Roundy LeFevre, age 93 and widow of Carl LeFevre, died in St. George. They lived on their (See PANGUITCH page 4-A) PANGUITCH Fmm 2-A farm in Spry for many years before moving to Panguitch. They moved to St. George in 1962. Carol Hatch Moss and her husband hus-band visited in town. Carol's parents, par-ents, Roy and Mattie Heywood Hatch, built the house where Howard How-ard and Mamie Hatch now live. Carol and her brother and sisters grew up and attended school in Panguitcn. Fred and Janet Houston and several sev-eral of their children and grandchildren grandchil-dren spent some time visiting with Janet's parents, Darrol and Beth Allred, in Hatch and with Fred's mother, Dorothy in Panguitch. A little late, but our condolences condo-lences to Jon Torgerson on the death of his father. Faun Gillette's piano students ' presented a recital for their families and friends. Peggy Egan has been preparing her home to be turned into a bed and breakfast. Her husband stayed in California to finish his business. The Kelly Houstons were here for a short time visiting with his parents, Grant and Gloria Houston and brother Ryan and Tammy Houston. DeWitt and Beth Heywood went north for the funeral of their son-in-law. DeWitt spent some time in the hospital also. Beth and DeWitt are now home taking care of each other. |
