Show Thank You! On Monday, May 10, my wife Charlotte and I were involved in a potentially very serious accident described so well in your May 20 articles in the Garfield County News. My addition to the story follows: As I was driving on Highway 12, I felt something on my cheek which I thought was an insect. I took my hand off the steering wheel to flick the insect, away. I suddenly lost control of the vehicle, possibly because of a gust of wind, which was shortly airborne. Both Charlotte and I were wearing seatbelts which firmly maintained our positions in our seats, protecting us from injury from the impact upon landing. A miracle, aided by seat belts. Luckily, following behind us was a transportation worker's truck manned by trained EMT who saw us go down the cliff. He was able to scurry down to our rescue. Everything after that was positive. The large crew of 20 EMT's, search and rescue people, an firefighters was magnificent in its rescue efforts. Their professionalism, profes-sionalism, kindness and surety of action was of great solace to both of us. After over two hours removing remov-ing us from the van, we were transported to Garfield Memorial Hospital in Panguitch where appropriate evaluation and medical care was initiated. Our total experience with the people who were responsible for our rescue and subsequent care was magnificent. Not enough can be said for the loving kindness kind-ness and competency of all the people we came in contact with during our stay. The people at the Horizon Motel were especially espe-cially caring to Charlotte's daughters who came to help us in our time of need. We particularly particu-larly like the tour of your lovely village after discharge from the hospital. What a wonderful town! Hope we can visit you again sometime under different circumstances. cir-cumstances. Hamer and Charlotte Lacey Gloucester, Mass. |
