Riggs returned to Panguitch Welcomes SFC John Riggs Home PANGUITCH - The city rolled out the red carpet for SFC. John Riggs who arrived back in Panguitch on May 18 after serving 16 months with the Utah Army National Guard 1457th Engineers Combat Battalion. Riggs was stationed in Iraq for 14 months where he helped clean up and rebuild the coun- Panguitch May 18 amid bells and sirens as as the city turned out to welcome him home, following his 14 months in Iraq. try. Riggs says he is honored and proud to be called to service to serve, the nation and the people of his own county. He says he missed the mountains and the people of Panguitch and Garfield County while he was away. John's unit arrived in Salt Lake City on May 14 where he was met by family and friends. He and others returning traveled trav-eled first to Vernal where his unit is based before he came back to Panguitch where he was met by the Panguitch Fire Department, ambulance, police, the Garfield County Road Department and citizens of Panguitch who helped bring him into town. |
