Panguitch native Wallace Tebbs, brother of Shirley Henrie, died in the south. He was married to Joann Dowdell. He was a son of the late Earl and Eva Tebbs. Joann is a daughter of the late Errol Dowdells. Wallace's funeral was held Jan. 18 and he was buried in the Panguitch Cemetery. Lucile Bridges has had serious seri-ous surgery in St. George. Her husband, Don, and daughter, LeeAnn, who came from Page, Ariz., are in St. George to be near her. Carla Farnsworth is the new Panguitch City Treasurer. " Larry Mrkvicka spoke in the Care Center LDS Relief Society meeting. His message was powerful: pow-erful: "Men are that they might have joy. Pleasure is fleeting. Joy is permanent. We need to be grateful for what we have and help others. Tell them we love them and how wonderful they are. We all need to show our appreciation and gratitude for service and love." Some of the men in town have a Fat Mans Basketball team. High school students are not the only ones who enjoy taking tak-ing part in sports. Pam Lewis of Circleville, who works in the Care Center laundry department, is thrilled over the call of her son, Craig Lewis, to serve an LDS mission to the Czech Republic. His farewell will be April 20 and he will enter the MTC on May 15. Paul Henrie, son of Shirley Henrie, has been here with her as she was seriously hurt in a fall from cement steps. Flora Howard spoke in the . Care Center LDS Sacrament meeting Sunday. She talked about the life of President Harold B. Lee, who, although he was church president for only a short time, gave so much to the world. Many years earlier he had organized the Welfare Plan which was later adopted by the ' church worldwide. Eight-year Panguitch resident Jim Anthony died at the local hospital. His funeral was held Jan. 23 with David H. Payne, pastor of the New Beginnings Baptist Church, officiating. Jim is survived by his wife, Velma and a daughter, Donna Leigh Washburn, two brothers and a sister. Our love and sympathy go to the family. In the Panguitch LDS Second Ward, Josh Hatch, son of Arthur and Sheri Hatch, was ordained a teacher. Steven Moore, son of Kevin and Deanna Moore, has been called to the Ventura California Spanish-speaking mission. Randy Houston talked about the role of adversity in our lives. Jon Torgerson discussed "Receiving the Blessing of the Temple." A special musical number was sung by Nan Singleton, Jane Excell, Rhea Dearden and Jill Chidester. Brian Foy was released as financial finan-cial clerk and Danny Perkins was called to that position. Eva Marshall has had her son-in-law, Doyle, and grandson, grand-son, Jeff Peterson here with her for a time. Alta Orton had surgery on her hand and is getting along well. Dan and Florence Frandsen went north to help their son, Jared, paint his new home. Verda Oldham is home after spending two weeks in Phoenix with her daughter and son-in-law. They came to get her and brought her home. Justin and Ann Hatch have a new baby boy. He has a big brother at home to welcome him. His grandparents are Claude and Suzann Barney Hatch and Randy and Debbie Duckett Hatch. Great grandpar ents are Bill Duckett and Howard and Mamie Hatch. Edna Clark died at the local hospital on Jan. 23 after being a patient only a few days. Her son, Michael Connell, and wife, Raylene, came from Texas. Edna has lived here a number of years and was very active in the local Catholic Church. Jason and Jennifer Miller are new Primary teachers in the LDS Third Ward. |
