Show GSCALMJTG NEVJS By Marlene Haws 826-4859 marlenehcolor-country.net . Bobbi Coughlin went to St. George to be with her father, who fell and broke his hip. Wade and Lori Beebe met their daughter and son-in-law Ashley and Ryan Chidester, Cedar City, in Beaver where Wade's parents Ron and Cheree Beebe live. They all attended a wedding reception for Ryan's sister Holly Chidester and her new husband Dave Kerkseik. Dave is a son of Ron's and Cheree's LDS bishop. Jean Griffin called me last week and said their last visit in Escalante was shorter than expected because Lewis became ill. He is better now and they will be leaving in a few days for Farmington, N.M., to visit their son and daughter-in-law Dean and Terry Griffin and family. Dean and Terry have two sons who just returned from serving LDS missions. Their son Scott, went to Milan, Italy, and son Ryan went to the Philippines. They will both speak in sacrament sacra-ment meeting. Lewis and Jean have had as many as five grandsons grand-sons in the mission field at the same time. The Griffins will also get to meet a new grandson-in-law for the first time while they are in Farmington. Then they will probably be anxious to get back to the new house they just moved into in Provo. Hope this doesn't mean they plan to spend less time here now! Cheryl (Roundy) Cox, St. George, stopped in to visit Marlene Haws one day last week. She had been staying at her cabin in Boulder during her spring break. The rest of her family had gone in other directions direc-tions for ballgames, etc. She also visited her cousin Camille Ballard in Boulder. Tom Reynolds called last (See ESCALANTE on page 5A) Escalante News From Page 2A . ' ' week. He says he and Ann are planning to build a cabin on their property in Boulder. Can't imagine a prettier place to have a cabin and just sit back and cool your heels after driving truck as long as Tom has. And by the way, I think Tom even wants to do a little cooking, or canning. He's hunting the recipe for "Chow" (kind of like a relish) like his mother used to make. Says it tasted real good with potatoes and gravy. He also said, "Maude Reynolds probably never had a recipe for anything she ever made, but it was always good!" So if any of you have a recipe that sounds like it might be like Maude's, get in touch with Tom in Panguitch! Most of the family of Rolain Alvey spent a long weekend together in Las Vegas, Nev., last weekend. They were there for the wedding of Brandy Sandefer and Sean Kennedy, both of Las Vegas. Attending from Escalante were: Brandy's mom Faye Lyman, grandmother Rolain, uncle and aunt Tyler and Lisa Lyman and family (their daughters, Jaimie and Jenifer Lyman went from St. George), and uncle and aunt Don and Gwen Porter and family (their son and daughter-in-law Michael and Lori Porter went from St. George); Aunt Dana, Shilo and Alisa Alvey, Cedar City; Brandy's brother Ty Sandefer and friend Esther, St. George; and her father Gene Sandefer and sister Brittany Sandefer, both of Grand Junction, Colo. The wedding was at the "Ritz" wedding palace and very nice. The family fami-ly enjoyed being together for the wedding, to visit and enjoy lots of good food. Deon Alvey has been on the go the past week. She, Lane Liston and Ernie Henderson, Henrieville, went to Salt Lake City to get another new van this time for the Escalante Senior Citizen Center, il is white with red trim, in case you have seen it and didn't know what is was! After they got back, Deon went to St. George for meetings, and after that, Arnold had a meeting in Richfield. He and Deon picked up their daughter and granddaughter grand-daughter Janeen Duncan and Hailey Snedeger in Torrey and the ladies shopped and visited while Arnold went to his meeting. meet-ing. Little Hailey is only 4 but, like her grandmothers, had her list of things she needed to "pick up." |
