Show Area Obituaries Arthur C. Sevy ESCONDIDO, Calif. PANGUITCH, PAN-GUITCH, Utah - Funeral services serv-ices for Arthur C. Sevy, 77, who passed away Feb. I, 2004, at his home in Escondido, Calif., were held Feb. 4 in Escondido and Feb. 6 in Panguitch, Utah. He was born Apr. 30, 1926 in Panguitch, Utah, to Thomas Franklin and Alice Church Sevy. He married Fern Slade and they recently celebrated 58 years together. He was a lifelong member of the LDS Church. He served his country in the US Navy during WWII. In civilian Jife he worked for the Department of the Navy as a Guided Missile Research Engineer. He is survived by his wife of Escondido; children, Douglas (Valerie) Sevy of Temecula, Calif.; Bruce (JoAnn) Sevy of Rexburg, Ida.; Michael Sevy of San Francisco, Calif.; Eric (Brooke) Sevy of Lehi, Utah; Julene (Les) Jones of Mesa, Ariz.; 16 grandchildren and one great-granddaughter; sisters, Norma Talbot and Pauline (Merle) Prince, both of Panguitch, Utah; and Janice (Kay) Bernson of Salt Lake City, Utah. Funeral services were held on Feb. 4, 2004 in Escondido where President Allen Haynie presided and Bishop Kirk Knowlton conducted. Chorister was - Brenda Knowlton and pianist Justin Gray who provided provid-ed the prelude music. Bryan Sevy offered the invocation following fol-lowing the singing of "Love At Home" by the congregation. Autumn Sevy performed "Come, Come Ye Saints" on the piano, followed by a life sketch offered by Michael Sevy. The congregation next heard a vocal solo recorded by Arthur Sevy, "Remember When". The Sevy children, Douglas, Julene, Bruce, Michael and Eric sang "I Walked Today Where Jesus Walked", an arrangement by Justin Gray for Arthur Sevy. They were accompanied by Lisa Ellis. President Haynie spoke, followed by a vocal solo by Eric Sevy, "If Christ Should Come ' Tomorrow". - He was accompa- HATCH, Utah - James B. (Jim) McCormick, 74, of Hatch, Utah died Saturday, Jan. 31, 2004. He was born in Philadelphia, Penn., Sept. 20, 1929 to Thomas and Lillie Gunby. He was the loving husband hus-band of Jeannine C. McCormick of 49 years, married Jan. 4, 1955 in Santa Ana, Calif. He was respected and will always be remembered as a gentleman, a family man, a moral and religious reli-gious man, and a loving and faithful husband. Jim was a Navy veteran who proudly served during the Korean War. He joined the Santa Ana Police Department in 1953 before beginning a very successful success-ful 23-year career with the California Department of Fish and Game. He began the department depart-ment as a Game Warden and retired as their Deputy Director in 1979 having earned numerous national and regional awards in recognition of his accomplishments accomplish-ments in wildlife management and preservation. After retirement he and his wife moved to Southwest Utah to build a home and become ranchers. (Jim) McCormick He developed many friendships within this community and truly enjoyed building a successful Polled Hereford ranch, while actively participating as an official offi-cial in the Utah Polled Hereford and Cattleman's Associations, amongst others. Throughout his life he especially espe-cially enjoyed the outdoors fishing fish-ing and hunting or simply being with his friends and family. He was well read, with a particular interest in American history and all aspects of nature and wildlife. He was proud to be an American. Survivors include his wife, Jeannine; son and daughter-in-law Bart and Tess McCormick of Seattle, Wash.; daughter and son-in-law Lynn and Steve Goldberg of Manhattan Beach, Calif.; sisters, Patricia Love of Ohio, Carolyn London of Florida; brother, Thomas B. McCormick of Utah; and four beautiful grandchildren Kiana and Sean McCormick and Julia and Kevin Goldberg-Ford. Graveside services were held Wednesday, Feb. 4, 2004 in the Kanab, Utah Cemetery. Services arranged by Mosdell Mortuary of Kanab. James 6 Jim' Henry Muir PANGUITCH, Utah -James "Jim" Henry Muir passed away Feb. 3, 2004, at the age of 60. He was born Nov. 30, 1943 to Henry C. and Kathryn Rasmussen Muir in Fairview, Calif. Jim served in the US Navy for four years. He married Joyce Porter, later divorced. Jim retired from the sawmill in Panguitch where he worked for over 20 years. He enjoyed many different outdoor activities activi-ties including riding horses, motorcycles, and his four-wheeler, four-wheeler, and taking his dogs for rides in his truck. He also particularly par-ticularly enjoyed hunting with his father and taking his twov grandsons fishing. Jim is survived by both parents, par-ents, Henry and Kathy Muir of Taylorsville, Utah; brothers Fred Muir. Taylorsville; Dan Muir, Monroe; sister Connie Muir, Woodward, Okla.; and daughter Jody Haley, and two grandsons Clayton and Jaden Arthur Sevy nied by Lisa Ellis. The congregation sang "How Great Thou Art" and the benediction bene-diction was offered by Adam Sevy. Pallbearers were Douglas Arthur Sevy, Bruce Franklin Sevy, Michael Ray Sevy, Eric Thomas Sevy and Leslie Mel Jones. Honorary pallbearers were Bryan Douglas Sevy, Jeremy Brig Jones, Joshua Den Jones, Justus Lee Jones, Phillip Anthony Sevy, Adam Joseph Sevy, Thomas James Sevy, Andrew Troy Sevy, Matthew Alan Sevy, Jonathon Michael Sevy, and Eric Slade Sevy. Panguitch services were held Feb. 6 at the Panguitch 2nd3rd Ward LDS chapel where Douglas Sevy officiated. The invocation was offered by Jack Loney followed by a musical . selection the children. A life sketch, written by Michael Sevy, was offered by Bruce Sevy. There was a musical selection, on tape, by Arthur Sevy followed fol-lowed by a vocal solo by Eric Sevy. Kay Bernson offered the benediction. Pallbearers were family members and friends. Interment was at the Panguitch Cemetery with military rites performed by the Panguitch American Legion Post 25. The grave was dedicated dedi-cated by Douglas Sevy. Funeral directors; Neal S. Maaleby & Sons, Richfield, Utah. Porter, all from Panguitch; and several nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by a nephew. Jim , will be greatly missed. No services, will be held. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations be made to the American Diabetes Association. |
