Show It's a lunker! This 9.51b. German Brown trout was caught on Panguitch Lake by Dave Terrell of St. George, with the help of cousin Mark Talbot of Panguitch Lake. Measuring 30 inches, this was a definite prize, caught on opening day, May 17, with a worm on six pound line. It's Free Fishing Saturday! People will not need a fishing license to fish in the state of Utah on Saturday. Free Fishing Day, offered by the Division of Wildlife Wild-life Resources, will be held Saturday, Sat-urday, June 7. "We're trying to attract people to fishing by having a free day," said Tom Pettengill, Division sport fisheries coordinator. Instead of streams and rivers, anglers fishing on June 7 may want to consider fishing at lakes and reservoirs. "Because of high runoff, we probably won't stock many streams that weekend," Pettengill said. "We'll be putting the fish into lakes, instead." Division staff treat Free Fishing Fish-ing Day as they would a holiday weekend, meaning they usually stock additional fish to meet the additional demand, Pettengill said. He reminds those fishing Saturday Sat-urday that with the exception of not needing a fishing license, all other limits and regulations found in the 1997 Utah Fishing Proclamation Procla-mation will be in effect. |
