Show James and Evelyn Henrie, 1947 Henries Celebrate Wedding PANGUITCH Jim and Evelyn Henrie of Panguitch, celebrated their golden wedding anniversary June 19, 1997. Their family gathered for a three day boat trip on Lake Powell, then on June 17 an open house in Jim and Evelyn's honor was hosted bv their children in the cultural hall of the Panguitch LDS 3rd Ward building. All of their seven children, their seven sons and daughter-in-lawS, and 23 of their grandchildren, attended. The family was pleased that so many friends and relatives were there to express their good wishes and to share memories. Evelyn was raised in Marysvale. She is a daughter of Jennie Robins and Lawrence Francis Hamel. Jim was raised in Panguitch. He is a son of Ruth Heywood and Nathaniel Orald Henrie. Evelyn Joy Hamel and James Orald Henrie were married June 19, 1947, in the Logan LDS Temple. Upon Jim's completion of a Master of Science degree in Civil Engineering from Utah State University in 1951, they moved to southern California. His 37-year career was spent with Rockwell a Mm James and Evelyn Henrie International and Westinghouse in nuclear engineering. They moved to Richland, Wash., in 1976. While in Richland, Evelyn earned her Bachelor of Arts degree from Eastern Washington University. Following Jim's retirement in 1988, the couple moved to Panguitch. Together, they served as the first full time LDS missionaries in Cyprus. After returning from their mission in 1990, they built a beautiful winter home in St. George. Jim and Evelyn's children and their spouses are: Diana Joy Henrie and Davis Giles Gardner of Harrogate, England; James Russell and Cynthia Brimhall Henrie of Haleiwa, Hawaii; Bradley Kirk Henrie and Christine Glassey of Salt Lake City; Gregory Orald and Sally Jo Chapin Henrie of Richland, Wash.; Jenine Henrie and Glen Brooke Snarr of Murray; Laura Henrie and Paul David Wheelwright of Warrenville, Illi.; and Ruth Henrie and Roger Louis Kaspar of Provo. They have 25 grandchildren. Their first greatgrandchild great-grandchild was born June 18, 1997, just in time for their 50th anniversary. Jim farms and manages his irrigation products company during the summer months, and still consults as a nuclear engineer. Evelyn is busy keeping up with her children and grandchildren.
