Show By Marlene Haws 826-4859 My appologies for not having news in the Escalante column last week. I was galavanting again. The senior citizen group went on a four day trip and I went along to help drive the bus. There were four bus loads. One from Iron County, two from Kane County and one from Garfield County. Those riding the Garfield County bus were: Arnold and Deon Alvey, Velma Boulter, Vernon and Hazel Griffin, Marlene Haws and Dudley and Hazel Spencer, all of Escalante, and Ruth Barnes, Bar-nes, Betty Cooper, Dorothy Pin-gree Pin-gree and Marilyn Veater all of Panguitch. We went through Monument Valley and stayed in Cortez, Colo, the first night, then on to Durango, Colo, where we rode the train to Silverton during the day and enjoyed a barbeque and entertainment by the Bar D Wranglers the second night. We then went back down through to Farmington, New Mexico where we stayed the third night and back home the fourth day. We had trouble with the Panguitch bus both going out and coming back but we arranged to get back home safely and it was nice get- (See Escalante News On Page 5-A) r Escalante News From Page 2-A ting to see all' the pretty country again. It is surprising how many tourists stop to take pictures - whole bus loads. One man said that was the best sight he had seen since leaving his home in Nevada. So not everyone hates the sight of cattle on the range only the eccentrics! |
