Show . By Margaret Shakespear 679-8749 The flu bug has been making the rounds. Overheard at the clinic was a patient telephoning for a doctor's appointment. The doctor said he wouldn't be in tomorrow to-morrow and to please make a date with his receptionist. The patient seriously asked, "Do you really think she will go out with me? VerLynn Munson is home from her stay at the hospital. On Monday, Louise Ott and Minnie Nielson went to Cedar City for doctor's appointments and for other business. They saw Gene and Mary Etta Chynoweth there, too. Jerry and Carol Pollock were on the road again for more doctor's doc-tor's appointments up north. Margaret R. Mecham celebrated cele-brated her mother's birthday in ;Salt Lake City. She spent a week ;there. Husband Lowell Mehcam imade the trip to bring her home. r Layne and April LeFevre and family members attended Sunday xhurch meetings in Page where Layne's father was sustained as Hhe new bishop in his ward. ; Margie Bee has transferred ffrom Provo to the Panguitch Care Center. o Jerry and Bonnie Mecham, ifrom Green River, visited with jMalen and Marian Mecham for three days. Their next visitors -were Donald and Karma Shakespear, from Bear River City. The Bryce Valley Brycettes held their annual drill team dinner and review. Congratulations to the drill team for a job well done. Apparently there was a special "Stumblettes" march by the boys the same night. Dixie Shakespear enjoyed having Nikki and Trevyn Hep-worth, Hep-worth, from Panguitch, spend some time with her. They took a cold tour of Bryce Canyon but stayed in the car to enjoy the frozen fro-zen scenery. The Escalante Stake Scout Banquet was held in Tropic. Congratulations Con-gratulations go to our local scout leaders who received awards. Phyllis Stewart accompanied her husband Max, to Las Vegas, Nev. for the weekend. While he spent time at a workshop, she spent her time window shopping. For Eric Syrett's birthday, his wife, Tracy, took him to a Jazz game in Salt Lake City. After the game, they spent a couple of days with her parents'in Payson, Utah. Carl Boyd was able to spend the Valentine's Day weekend with wife Mary Miller Boyd. Ron and Peggy McGee visited with Minnie Nielson. Construction worK on the new high school is rolling along and the report is that they are on schedule. Work still continues by the excavationconstruction crew that is repairing road and creek damage that the high floods caused last fall. Let's blame it on El Nino, like all the weathermen do. Let's support the boys basketball basket-ball team at Region to encourage and cheer for them because of their dally physical efforts to represent rep-resent Bryce Valley High to the best of their abilities. Think of the young man who said. "Have faith in me." It may start a trend." With all the rumors and scandals scan-dals heard in these last days, about the only thing left in this world that can be shocked is grain! For those of you who didn't know what all the commotion was, late Saturday night, it was the happiness of the sophomore basketball team and their fans. Congratulations to the boys who participated in the sophomore tournament in Orderville. The Bryce Valley team took consolation consola-tion championship. The President's Day holiday brought many visitors and college students to the valley. Some of those students who were seen were Chance, Clay and Mark Stewart; David, Shelly, and Mathew Shakespear and Laycee Mangum. Several of the visitors were participating in the cross country skiing on top of the mountain. moun-tain. Youth speakers in LDS sacrament sacra-ment meeting were Shaine Pollock, Pol-lock, Megan Pollock, Megan Pederson, and Steven Feltner. Adult speakers were Ron Harris and David Tebbs. The Cub Scout Blue and Gold Banquet was held February 25th. Parents, mark your calendars for the Pinewood Derby Race March 19. Isn't it nice to be having the days get longer? Overheard was a four-year-old commenting to her mother, "It's funny because somehow, some-how, every time I put my pajamas on, it gets dark outside!" Marjorie Mecham and her mother Margaret Mecham enjoyed en-joyed their visits from Marjorie's sisters, Garnet Barton, Cedar City, and Vera Larsen, Richfield, over the weekend. After the rain storm this conversation con-versation was overheard. "What are you looking for in that mud? The answer was, "Oh, I heard it rained an inch and three quarters and I'm looking for the three quarters!" |
