Show Kendall Melvin Dutton EPHRAIM Kendall Melvin Dutton, 59, passed away Oct. 22, 1999 at his home in Ephraim. He was born June 2, 1940 in Kanab to Kendall Asay and Beatrice Henderson Hender-son Dutton. He married Wilma Kay Benner; they later divorced. He married Flora Jean Haws, July 5, 1975 in Pioche, Nevada. He was 'a truck driver for Tid-well Tid-well Trucking in Nephi. He hauled logs to the Escalante Sawmill and also the Kaibab mills in Panguitch and Fredonia. He loved to hunt and spent time in the mountains with his wife and family. He was a member of the LDS Church. He is survived by: wife, Jean, of Ephraim; son, William (Tonya) Dutton of Eager, Ariz.; daughter, Helen Ann (Duane) Sawyer of Panguitch; Pan-guitch; step-children: R.Dean (Karlene) Mclnelly of Ruby's Inn, Kaylon (Elyse) Mclnelly of Page, Ariz., Kristy (Sean) Clark of Cedar City; three grandchildren; 11 step-grandchildren; step-grandchildren; brothers and sisters: Afton (Laraine) Dutton, Bea (Lark) Reynolds, Evelyn (Donald) Heaton, Merle (Don) Allen, Karen (Albert Sr.) Sivils, Nola (John) Davis He is preceded in death by his parents; son, Kendall Melvin Dutton Dut-ton Jr., step-daughter, Trecia Stock Price; and brothers, Budd and Larry Dutton. Funeral services were held on Monday, Oct. 25, in the Ephraim LDS Chapel, with Bishop David Strate officiating. The family prayer was offered by John Heaton, a nephew and prelude and postlude music was played by Nancy Oliver. The invocation invo-cation was offered by Richard D. Mclnelly, a stepson and Elona Merrill Mer-rill sang "Abide With Me, 'Tis Eventide," accompanied by Dorothy Miller. A tribute was given by Nick Reynolds, a nephew, Markie Dutton, Dut-ton, a granddaughter, sang a special Vernon Roe "Ted" Griffin ESCALANTE Vernon Roe "Ted" Griffin, 82, passed away - Thursday, Oct. 21, 1999 at his I ." hpme in Escalante, Utah. He was ; born Feb. 11, 1917 in Escalante to ; Orlow Henry and Dora Elizabeth Roe Griffin. He married Hazel Pratt, July 5, i 1941 in Ely, Nev. The marriage was solemnized in the St. George LDS Temple. She preceded him in death Aug. 7, 1999. Dad worked from sun-up to sundown sun-down because he loved his family . and wanted the best for them. He was a sheep herder, trapper, government gov-ernment cook, worked on the oil wells as a derrick hand, and as a farmer. There wasn't anything he couldn't do if he set his mind to it. 1 He was an active member of the ; LDS Church. He was a veteran of , WWII, having served in the Army. He is survived by his children: Marilyn (Richard) Brant of Salt Lake City, Raymond (Marsha) Griffin, Grif-fin, Carolyn (Calvin) Eyre, Mable (Tom) Seegmiller, all of Richfield, Sharon (Robyn) Griffin, Monroe, Shona (John) Daniels of Ephraim, Alan Griffin of Escalante; 19 grandchildren; grand-children; 15 great-grandchildren; sister, Cora Shakespear of Tropic. He is preceded in death by parents; par-ents; wife; son, Richard Griffin; brothers and sisters: Lamont, Leslie, Les-lie, Vernile, Leland Griffin, Ethel Griffin. Funeral services were held on Tuesday, Oct. 26, 1999 in the Escalante Esca-lante 2nd LDS Ward Chapel with Bishop Dal Liston officiating. Marlene Haws, a sister-in-law, sang "These Hands" and remarks were made by Bishop David Strate. The benediction was offered by Tonya Dutton, a daughter-in-law. Pallbearers were son William Dutton, son-in-law Duane Sawyer, brother Afton Dutton, nephews Chip Dutton, Albert Sivils and . Robert Davis. Honorary pallbearers were Ruger Dutton, Josh Seely, Harris Allen, Charles Allen, Kaylon Mclnelly, Sean Clark, Larry Davis, Marco Davis, Zan Davis, Larry Heaton, Chris Heaton, Wayne Reynolds, Landon Clark, Garrett Clark, Wyatt Clark, Kaleb Mclnelly, Jake Mclnelly, Kyle Mclnelly, and Tyler Mclnelly. Burial was in the Ephraim Park Cemetery. The dedication of the grave was offered by William "Bill" Dutton, a son. Compassionate services were rendered by the Ephraim 1st Ward Relief Society sisters. Pallbearers were sons Sharon Griffin, Alan Griffin and Raymond Griffin; grandsons Scott Eyre, Michael Mi-chael Brant, Jason Peterson, Byron Woolsey and Shad Griffin. Honorary pallbearers were sons-in-law Richard Brant, Calvin Eyre, Tom Seegmiller, (John Daniels, deceased) ; grandsons Michael Hart, Todd Jeffery, Denny LaRose, John Lovato, Charlie Miller, Roger Og-den, Og-den, Doug Stoker, Shane Griffin, David Brant, and Todd Smith. Burial was in the Escalante . Cemetery with Military Rites by the Escalante American Legion Post. The dedication of the grave was offered by Sharon Griffin, a son.
