Show Arianne Barton Attends HOBY Seminar At Park City TROPIC Arianne Barton, 16-year-old daughter of Brant and Shanna Barton of Tropic, returned recently from a three-day Hugh O'Brian Youth Foundation (HOBY) leadership seminar held at Prospector Square in Park City. The Bryce Valley High School sophomore was the only student selected from among high school 10th graders in Garfield County to participate in the seminar where there were some 60 other high school sophomores from all over Utah. Barton was chosen for her outstanding out-standing leadership potential and all her expenses for the seminar were paid by an unnamed sponsor. During the weekend's activities, she enjoyed a unique learning experience designed to raise questions ques-tions and to present different points of views on the topics presented. The program was designed as an enjoyable learning experience in a stimulating workshop environment with lots of interaction with business busi-ness and government dignitaries. Arianne Barton Panel discussion subjects included inclu-ded "America's Incentive System," "Entrepreneurship," Volunteerism," "Education," "Communications," and "The Future of Utah ." A variety of recreational activities ac-tivities for the large group of students stu-dents included volleyball games, barbecues, and a Friday evening dance. There were also special closing clo-sing ceremonies on Saturday. |
