There wasn't an exact count taken, but there were 60 or more family members who had lots of good food to eat and enjoyed the day together. Ora's daughter Oretta Malmedal and grandson Rowdy of Las Vegas stayed another week to help Ora do some painting and other jobs. Isn't it great to have some extra help now and then? Thayne and Jo Smith and grandson grand-son from Kanab stopped for a visit with old friends Wallace and Mary Ott. They went out for lunch and Thayne had lots of questions about the area's history. He knew Wallace Wal-lace could supply all the answers he needed. It is amazing how much Wallace knows and remembers. Thayne and Jo also stopped to visit with Sara Littlefield. On Friday, Mary went to Panguitch with Kath-ryn Kath-ryn Pollock and Wynona Henderson to visit their mother and sister Elsie Goulding, who recently celebrated her 85th birthday. Two weeks ago, Kerry and JoNeil Alvey and boys attended an LDS missionary farewell for JoNeil's nephew, Scott Snidely. Kerry had telephone company meetings meet-ings the next week in Park City. JoNeil says her father, Russell Wright, is doing much better than expected. Nell flew out of St. George on Friday. She was so thrilled to see so many old friends and neighbors while she was here. If you missed the group who performed on Monday, Aug. 16, you missed some wonderful entertainment. enter-tainment. The group "Stand Out" from Salt Lake City gave a benefit performance for little Paris Feltner, daughter of Todd and Jennifer Feltner. Felt-ner. The group really did stand out in their performance of song and dance numbers to rock, punk, and Latin music; music from "Grease", disco, country western and songs of the '90's. Their voices were tremendous tre-mendous and their dancing left you breathless as you watched them. A specially entertaining part of the program was when they coaxed Mayor Jean Seiler from the audience audi-ence to dance on stage along with them. The audience went away thoroughly delighted. Mondell and Florence Syrett and sons Lance and Skyler met daughter Sydney at Lake Powell for the weekend. They had a great time before Sydney had to return to school in Phoenix. Charlie and EvaDean Francisco and their daughter Sandrea Francisco attended funeral services for Charlie's Char-lie's sister Varis Simkins in Cir-cleville. Cir-cleville. Lillis Francisco and children chil-dren Marlin, Anita and Deann were also there. Shawn and Crystal Mortensen and family had as overnight guests Gary and Peggy Denton of Sacramento. Sacra-mento. Shawn baptized Peggy and family while he was on his LDS mission. The Mortensen family also spent the weekend in Ely, Nev., attending horse races. Chris Hobson, wife of Richard Hobson was here with Paul and Keela Mangum for the weekend. Chris had her four granddaughters with her, so this was a special "grandma and grandkids" occasion. Pete and Keela were in St. George last week to see the show at Tuacahn. They had barely sat down when it started to rain and rain and rain, so the show was cancelled. We are all thankful for the moisture, mois-ture, but sometimes the timing could be better, especially for those who have their alfalfa cut. Speaking of rain, how about that storm in Red Canyon on Thursday. The weather report on TV said it rained 4.1 inches there. Some of the trail rides couldn't make it out of the canyon for awhile because of the flooding. Kirk and Annette Chynoweth had Kirk's son Curtis home for the weekend. He and wife Natalie and children had been here for a couple of weeks. They had their new baby blessed in Cannonville last Sunday. |
