Show Tropic Burglaries May Be Linked Recent break-ins at two Tropic businesses and at Bryce Valley High School have kept Garfield County law enforcement officers busy with ongoing investigations into the incidents, some of which may be connected. At BVHS, vandals trashed the school's new school bus, breaking out the front window, emptying the fire extinguisher, and throwing baked potatoes on the seats. Damage is estimated in excess of $750. In a separate incident, vandals entered the school's new gym where they broke trophies, throwing throw-ing them into toilets, crumpled photographs, destroying much of the school's sports history, and defecated into a flute case. At Dougs Place, Panguitch locksmith and security specialist replaced locks and changed keys, secured windows, and replaced screens after a burglary in which beer, cigarettes, chewing tobacco, tobac-co, and treats were taken. The thieves also sabotaged electrical wires to the company's freezers, cut the cord to the security light, and removed light bulbs before partying in the hot tub. Owner Doug Ahlstrom said he thought the hot tub may have been used off and on during the summer months by unauthorized individuals. individ-uals. At Bryce Pioneer Village, a shed was broken into about two weeks ago, and several cases of beer were stolen.
