Show Escalante's Kazan Clinic Undergoing Expansion ESCALANTE After two years of talking, planning and grant writing, work has begun on remodeling remod-eling and expanding the Kazan Memorial Clinic in Escalante. The clinic moved to its present location in October 1983 and is operated by the medical staff of Garfield Memorial Hospital and Clinics. The expansion project is a combined effort of a number of groups. A $15,000 grant was obtained from the U.S. Department of Agriculture through the efforts of members of the Escalante Action Team. Escalante City, which owns the building in which the clinic is housed, offered to move the City Police Office from the building into the city offices at the old high school. Garfield Memorial Hospital Administrator Wayne Ross is coordinating the gathering of necessary equipment for a larger treatment room through Intermoun-tain Intermoun-tain Health Care. The Garfield (See Escalante's Kazan Clinic Undergoes Un-dergoes Remodel On Page 9A) Escalante Clinic To Be Remodeled From Page 1 Memorial Health Care Foundation is prepared to assist should there be a need for additional funding for either the building or equipment. The remodeling will involve moving storage and the doctor's office into the old police office, with a door opening at the end of the current hallway. The area now housing storage and the doctor's office will become a large treatmentexamination room. An outside entrance will be made into the new room to simplify ambulance pickup of patients. The dental room will be expanded to include the jail cell area beside it and Dr. Steven Hooper of Panguitch will then use it as an Escalante satellite dental office. Dr. David Burgermeister's veterinary office will remain as is. The work of remodeling is being completed by Reed Munson Construction of Escalante and coordinated around the current clinic schedule of Monday, Wednesday and Friday with Sheri Woolsey and Judy Brooks. Howard Miller, Escalante City Council member is working closely with all involved to facilitate any assistance needed from the city. |
