Show ,h. .... . a . I , The Panguitch Future Homemakers of America recently competed in the state competition held in Salt Lake City. Members who attended were, back row, left to right : Janice B. Hatch advisor, Jennifer Nay, Chrisa Nay, Nicole Reynolds, Roykne PANGUITCH Members of the Panguitch High School Chapter Chap-ter of the Future Homemakers of America once again participated in and took home the most medals med-als from State FHA competition last week at the Salt Palace in Salt Lake City. Panguitch will now take three teams on to represent the state of Utah ai. National FHA competition competi-tion July 5-12 in San Diego, Calif. This project demonstrated demon-strated how students could use technology to teach an academic concept. Students used computer lap-tops, M-power, a multi-media program, an ultra sound body analysis machine, a VCR and other varied technologies to teach proper nutrition and eating for better bet-ter health and performance in the teen years. This project addressed ad-dressed domestic violence and dealt with ways to educate and help women begin a new life. It also taught where to get help and how to develop life skills in communicating in a positive, nonviolent non-violent manner with family members. mem-bers. This project focused fo-cused on developing stronger communication between teens and parents. The three developed in-depth projects to learn more about their parents, spend more time with the parents and develop and use skills that would help them build stronger family units. Along the way the learned communication com-munication skills that will help them in all areas of their future development. Casey McCullough and Jackson Jack-son Prince took second place medals for their senior division project entered in the chapter showcase competition. The project proj-ect highlighted all the FHA projects proj-ects undertaken this year. This was a multi-media presentation developed also to show how FHA has changed over the past 15-20 years and the various accomplishments ac-complishments of the Panguitch High School Chapter. This project was developed devel-oped to build stronger communication communi-cation within a family. Each of the young scholars worked closely with their fathers, learning first hand what their fathers did each day and actually going to work with them. The fathers in return taught their daughters numerous skills such as changing a tire, feeding livestock, etc. Lindsey Bremner and Nicole Reynolds also competed and did an excellent job at state with their senior division project skills for life. They learned CPR skills with the assistance of EMT Tammy Barton and then taught those skills to health and TLC classes. FHA Advisor Janice B. Hatch extended thanks to all the administration, ad-ministration, school staff, community com-munity and parents who helped to make this such a successful competitive com-petitive year. The students look forward to their July trip to southern south-ern California to proudly represent their home state of Utah. |
