Show By Marta Peterson 834-5306 The rain was a welcome weather change at Bryce Canyon. The summer had been much too dry and the stress of the drought was obvious when one looked at the fauna of the park. It'll take a good snow year to help break the results of the dry summer. Eric Stonaker, son of Clyde and Mary Stonaker, celebrated his eighth birthday with an appropriately ap-propriately themed Halloween party for an October celebration. Ron Bryan, a seasonal ranger at Glacier National Park and Anne Brown, an orchestral violinist, visited the Stonaker family. They became friends while working together to-gether at Big Bend National Park in Texas. Employees of the National Park Service consider themselves one big family and continue their friendships from park to park. Kirby Matthew and family have arrived at Bryce Canyon for Kirov's new job as exhibit specialist for the maintenance division. Welcome, aboard. Leah Smith and Kim Swanger have been selected as the permanent employees at the entrance station. They are both highly motivated employees who will be an asset to the National Park Service and Bryce Canyon. Fred Fagergren and his division chiefs hosted a "thank you" luncheon lunch-eon for all Bryce Canyon staff, spouses and volunteers. The weather cooperated so the October cookout was perfect. The food was delicious and the company, as always, was great. |
