Show By Jeanne Harshman 335-7348 The monthly LDS Relief Society Soci-ety meeting was chocked full of information in-formation and surprises. Lenora LeFevre gave a lesson on wise use of use of money, budgeting, home industry, money-saving tips on baby sitters, eating out, transportation, trans-portation, and food purchases. Children and their needs are the best reason to be at home she said. Ruth Ann Oliver of Slickrock Gallery in Escalante gave a talk on quilts and quilting and invited the ladies to submit quilts made before 1950 for a special quilting meeting to be held on Thursday, May 6 in Escalante. Pictures will be taken of them and they will be included in a book being printed for the Utah Centennial in 1996. Anyone needing more information on this or wanting to help with the event, can contact Ruth Ann Oliver at 826-4923. Lucille Proctor, with the Utah Extension Service, gave a presentation presenta-tion on homemaking and the fabrics available through the Extension Service. Sue Bassett and the Boulder Elementary school children came to the meeting to hear about nutrition. Mrs. Proctor presented the food guide pyramid on the daily food proportions of each food group. Sue Bassett was surprised during the meeting when a beautiful friendship quilt was presented to her as a house warming gift for her new home. Sioux Cochran and Elaine Roundy organized the squares for the quilt that were created by local ladies and put together and quilted by Veda Behunin. Following the lesson and presentations, luncheon, prepared by Gloria Holladay was enjoyed by all. She did a demonstration on how to make flour tortillas and then served them with beans and cheese. A dessert of Mexican rice pudding was made by Karla Roundy. Donna Jean Wilson just returned from a month's trip to Europe. She visited with her daughter, Lt. Cynthia Wilson, who is in the armed forces. Donna toured the countries of Germany, Switzerland, Litchenstein, Austria, France, Holland, and the cities of Florence, Rome, Naples and Capri in Italy. She really enjoyed the trip, especially the castles. |
