Show Centennial Commission Appointed With the appointment of Garfield County's Centennial Commission, the county will join with 28 others in the state to prepare pre-pare to celebrate Utah's centennial yea in 1996. The Garfield County Commission Commis-sion named Louise Liston as the county's executive director, with the county's attorney, Wallace Lee agreeing to chair the countywide ' commission. Elaine Roundy will represent Boulder; Marilyn Jackson, Sharol Bernardo and Ruthanne Oliver, Escalante; Shirley Barker, Hen-rievillc; Hen-rievillc; Mira Loy Ott, Cannon Can-non ville; Laurie Mecham and Lesa Pollock, Tropic; Janice Riggs, Hatch; Clair Veater, Panguitch Lake; Maria Peterson, Bryce Canyon; and Karran Harris, Cindy Barney, Bruce Fullmer, David Weckes and Philip Blais, Panguitch. Patricia Howard, Panguitch High School, will head the teen sub-commission, with additional sub-commission members from other high schools yet to be named. Recent state legislation created the Utah State Centennial Commission Com-mission with Dixie Leavitt at its head and laid the groundwork for commissions in each of Utah's 29 counties. Each will receive $5,000 startup money, with additional addi-tional funds to be made available, partly from the sale of centennial license plates. Each county will be expected to develop one major or several small projects in conjunction con-junction with the centennial cele-bration. |
