Show ii t ! . V " . .. JoNeil Alvey Candidate For Tropic Town Council JoNeil Alvey I appreciate this opportunity to tell you a little about myself and to express my views and reasons for seeking a position on the Tropic Town Council. While not born in Tropic, I have spent at least half my life here visiting vis-iting relatives and working in the area. In some ways, I've seen Tropic change a great deal over the years and in other ways, it hasn't changed at all. This is what makes Tropic special. It is also why I have been happy living here since marrying my husband, Kerry, seven years ago and starting our family two years ago. As a member of this or any community, I feel citizens have not only the right, but the duty and the obligation to give something back to their community to try to make it a better place for their having hav-ing been there. I love Tropic and I do not believe be-lieve that just because we live "out here in the sticks" we should have to settle for anything less than the best. Sure, there are limitations and obstacles, but if accomplishing some set goal (a new water system, for example) will greatly improve our way of life here, wc must at least try! I also view serving on the Town Council as a learning experience. So many times, I have asked "why did the Town Board do this or not do that?" Well, the time has come for me to stop standing idly by. It is time to get involved and get my questions answered. It is my hope that there are those of you in the community who share my sentiment and will support me on election day. Thank you. |
