Show Bryce Canyon Park Outlines FallWinter Activity Slate BRYCE CANYON NATIONAL PARK The fall winter schedule for Bryce Canyon National Park was announced this week for the popular park which is open all year. Beginning Nov. 1, the visitor center will open at 8 a.m. and close at 5 p.m. throughout the winter months. Through the remainder of October, the Visitor Center is open until 6 p.m. The center offers information in-formation about the park, a slide program, museum and publications. Park trails will be open except when made hazardous due to ice and snow. The Bryce Point to Peekaboo Loop connector trail is closed in winter due to icy conditions. Two trails, Paria Ski Trail and the Bristlecone Loop Trail, are marked for winter use. All other trails can be extremely difficult to find (even with maps) under winter conditions. Visitors at the park should check with the Visitor Center for specific current conditions. All viewpoints at the park are maintained open all year. The road to Paria View is not plowed in winter to permit use by skiers and snowshoers. Portions of park roads may be closed for brief periods during snowstorms or when driving conditions are too hazardous. Naturalist activities are not scheduled on a regular basis after September 29. Groups desiring guided activities or programs should contact the Chief Interpreter in advance. Camping is available in North Campground (30 sites) throughout the year. The rest room is open and water is available. Commercial campgrounds with hookups are available outside the park. Two motels within seven miles of the park remain open throughout the year. A third motel will remain open during part of the winter. The park lodge, restaurant, camper store, gas station, showers, and laundromat closed Oct. 1 and will reopen in mid-May 1987. The park dump station is closed for the winter. All services are availble, however, within a few miles of the park. |
