Show Candidates to Speak In Tropic Oct. 19 TROPIC As this year's general election campaign winds down into its final 13 days, Garfield County residents will have another opportunity op-portunity to hear from local candidates can-didates for election as the November 4 election date nears. On Wednesday, Oct. 29 at 7:30 p.m., candidates will gather once more to present their platforms at Bryce Valley High School in Tropic. Letters have been sent to all candidates inviting them fo take part in the open forum and voters are urged to use the opportunity to ask questions, said Tropic Town Manager Lamar LeFevre. Probably the hottest race in the county and certainly the most open and unpredictable is the race for Garfield County Sheriff. Official Republican candidate is Garfield County Sheriff's Deputy Robert Judd and the official Democratic candidate is Tom Reynolds. Both their names aDDear on the ballot. but vigorous write-in campaigns are being waged by incumbent Garfield County Sheriff Larry Coon and Glenn Leach. In other local races, Louise Liston, Republican will face Liz Ellingham, Democrat for the two-year commission com-mission post. Unopposed is Sherrell Ott, Republican, for the four-year post. Incumbent County Clerk Hazel Houston, Repulican, will face challenger Lorene Hepworth, a Democrat. Other unopposed local candidates are Jim Yardley, incumbent, for State Representative, District 73; Tom Simkins, for Garfield County Assessor; Patrick Nolan for Garfield Gar-field County Attorney; Mamie Hatch for Garfield County Recor- der; and Judy Henrie for Garfield ' County Treasurer. Other candidates are John Yar-!i dley for Justice of the Peace, County j Precinct; and Garth Noyes for Justice of the Peace, Ticaboo ! Precinct. Phil Allen is running ; unopposed for Precinct 5 school j board and in Precinct 4, Rod Syrett and Marion Littlefield are both j seeking the position of school board j member. - 1 LeFevre said he hopes candidates j will avail themselves of he chance to speak out on the issues that concern ! them and respond to questions from i voters.
