Garfield County Restarts Cardboard Recycling Bins Garfield County recently announced the reinstitution of its corrugated cardboard recycling program. The program was originally two years ago but was discontinued when local generators contributed more than cardboard than the county could bale. The County recently leased and installed a horizontal baler capable of producing 3-5 bales per hour and is now requesting generators to begin using the brown "cardboard-only" "cardboard-only" boxes placed at various locations in Panguitch, Hatch and Bryce Valley. The cardboard recycling program may result in a reduction of 312 trips per week to the John's Valley landfill if all potential generators will participate. Funds gained from recycling will be used to offset the cost of the baler and other solid-waste-related issues. |
