Show Garfield County Fair Gets Underway At Fairgrounds This year's Garfield County Fair got underway on Tuesday with the annual Junior Livestock Show kicking off a five-day series of exciting ex-citing events. Tonight's Miss Garfield County Scholarship Pageant promises to draw record crowds to Bryce Valley High School's brand new auditorium audito-rium where five young women will vie for the title and the job of representing repre-senting the county for the next year. Festivities start at 7 p.m., with admission at $3 per person. Sherrie Bulkley, Connie Coombs, Andrea Guillette, Shantell Rich and Camille Tebbs will have spent the day undergoing personal interviews and competing in swim-suit swim-suit competition. At the pageant, each contestant will perform her talent entry and will wear their favorite fa-vorite evening gown. Emcees for the evening will be the talented sisters, daughters of the Garth Roberts of Antimony, Kim Adams and Elaine Tebbs, both Cedar City. Friday night's concert at the Social So-cial Hall will feature Salt Lake City's 'Saliva Sisters," with their zany entertainment followed by a dance. On Saturday morning, the exhibit ex-hibit hall at the fairgrounds will open at 10, just after the poultry, fowl and small animal competition. On hand for the day's fun will be "Bow," a professional clown from South Jordan. Bow who has been clowning for 18 years will introduce intro-duce her new attraction "High Five," a mime who juggles, and who has performed with the Utah Jazz. Bow has worked county fairs, private parties and company parties in Utah, Nevada and Colorado. She will do special shows at the fair on Friday at 2 p.m. and on Saturday Sat-urday at 11:30 a.m. and 2 p.m., with comedy magic and lots of audience au-dience participation. Rides, at 50 cents each, will include in-clude a train, squirrel cage, swings, a small merry-go-round and a moon walk. There will also be a dunking machine. Appointments can be made for their favorite best (worst?) county villain by calling Bruce Fullmer at 676-8826. Other midway activities will include in-clude face painting, a dart throw, duck pond, ball throw, fingernail painting.creative crafts, ping pong ball toss, basketball throw, cork gun, ring toss, sucker tree and horseshoe pitch. Cheerleaders from several communities com-munities will operate the concessions conces-sions and receive a part of the pro ceeds as a fund raising effort Additional contestants are still being sought for Saturday afternoon's after-noon's talent show. Categories will include juniors (10 and under), intermediate (1 1-16) and senior (17-30). (17-30). There will be first ($75), second sec-ond ($50), and third ($25) place prizes for winners in each division: Deadline to enter is Friday, with the contest set at 3 on Saturday afternoon. after-noon.
