Bagnell, who was selected by the Garfield County Commission to head up the center's large variety of activities. Peg Bagnell New Director PanguitchHatch Seniors PANGUITCH Peg Bagnell was selected by the Garfield County Commission to fill the vacancy of a director for the Panguitch Senior Citizen Center after long-time director Faye Worthen retired. Bagnell is excited about her new venture and met recently with Aging Program Director Deon Alvey for further instruction and guidance about the seniors program. One of the main thrusts of jhe program for older citizxns is the three times weekly Meals on Wheels where Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday at noon seniors from Panguitch and Hatch gather for a complete sit down meal. At that same time meals for approximately 30 persons are being delivered throughout Panguitch and Hatch areas. For the past three years mother and daughter team volunteers Idonna Deuel and Rose Elaine Deuel take the meals to Hatch. Long time driver volunteer Dolly Hcnrie, assisted by Debbie Armstrong deliver meals around Panguitch. Cost of meals for seniors is a suggested donation of S2 for those 60 and over and S4.50 for all others. Residents arc encouraged to get the older area citizens out of their homes and the local Care Center to gather with friends for (See Peg Bagnell New Director PanguitchHatch Seniors Page 4A) Peg Bagnell Is New Director From Page 1 luncheon these three days a week. A new Blood Pressure Screening Program is being instituted by Bagnell on Tuesday from 11:30 a.m. untill2 noon. A free service to also encourage proper nutrition and participation in the seniors lunch program. Once a month seniors set a date to celebrate all birthdays taking place during the month. Individual decorated birthday cakes make the occasion memorable. In the month of March Freda Talbot was escorted from the Care Center and able to celebrate her birthday with the friends in the community at the center. Periodically throughout the year teaching seminars are held at the center on subjects such as securing your homes during vacations, personal security and nutrition and health subjects. On May 10 the Attorney General's office will sponsor a training seminar on Fraud & Scams perpetrated on older persons. Senior citizens from the Junction area will join Panguitch and Hatch for this seminar where videos will be available and handouts for later reading. The center also is rented out periodically for a fee of $25 for social events and seminars. The money collected goes to upgraded and enhancing the Panguitch Center. Quilting frames and equipment of all sizes are avilable to individuals and groups for quilting projects. j |
