Hearing set by Utah Department Of Transportation for next week on proposed new bridge is expected to draw interested area residents concerned about accident potential. UDOT Proposes Replacement Of One-Lane Escalante River Bridge The Utah Department of Transportation Trans-portation (UDOT) is holding an open forum public hearing to receive re-ceive public input regarding a proposal pro-posal to replace the existing one-lane one-lane structure on State Route 12 over the Escalante River at Calf Creek. UDOT is proposing to place the new structure on the same alignment, align-ment, with the roadway elevation raised approximately 10 feet. The project will also include reconstruction reconstruc-tion of approximately 900 feet of SR-12 to meet the higher bridge el evation and the use of a temporary one-lane detour during the actual construction. The hearing is scheduled for Tuesday, July 27, 1993. It will be held in the Escalante City Office Building, 56 North 100 West in Escalante, Es-calante, from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. Information to be presented at the hearing includes a discussion of the location and design alternatives considered.
