Show Anonymous Phone CaU Brings Arrest On Burglaries PANGUITCH An anonymous anon-ymous telephone will result in charges against a Provo man for alleged involvement in burglaries committed almost two years ago in Panguitch, stated Panguitch Police Chief Martin Nay on Tuesday. John Tandy, 22, Provo, has been released on his own recognizance recog-nizance after extensive questioning and after he provided Nay with further fur-ther information and leads in the case. Nay said that formal charges, both felony and misdemeanor, against Tandy are pending and additional addi-tional arrests are anticipated. On July 10 at 2:30 p.m., an anonymous caller told the Garfield County dispatcher that he knew the identity of persons involved in burglaries on Aug. 17, Sept. 11 and Oct. 10, 1991 at the Flying M Restaurant, where losses had been reported totalling about $1,000. The caller said he would call back in 30 minutes to talk to an officer at which time he spoke with Panguitch Police Chief Martin Nay, giving him the name, address and telephone number of a suspect. Nay reviewed the cases and decided to do some investigating himself. He discovered the suspect was in Arizona. Additional research revealed the suspect had lived in Provo and had previously been arrested on assault and alcohol related traffic violations. Subsequent investigation and contact with the suspect's family led to Tandy's voluntary surrender for questioning in Panguitch on July 17. k |
