Show (HMD) AN OPEN LETTER TO GARFIELD COUNTY CITIZENS WE NEED YOUR INPUT! FRIDAY, NOVEMBER 18 9 A.M. SHILO INN KANAB, UTAH During this past year, members of the tourism and buiness industry, elected officials and the public have had an opportunity to speak out on tourism issues in a series of statewide community meetings. These meetings are designed to generate input into the State's long-range strategic plan for tourism development. On Friday, November 18th, we will be holding our final meeting for Kane and southwest Garfield counties. Input from Escalante and Boulder has already been gathered and well-received well-received as a result of an August community meeting held in Torrey. Now we need to hear from the rest of Garfield County. It has been suggested that since the meeting will be held in Kanab, some Garfield County citizens may be discouraged from attending. The purpose of this letter is to challenge that prediction and double our efforts to encourage participation from interested parties in your area. Utah's tourism master plan needs Garfield County's input because of the high impacts tourism has in this county. Among the topics to be discussed will be the growing need to find a balance between infrastructure development and tourism promotion, and issues pertaining to the proposed Escalante national eco-region. eco-region. These are only two reasons why you should be at the meeting. We hope to see you there. Your ideas on how this community can reach a whole new level of performance in tourism development are needed.
