Show Bids Opened On Highway Sealing Job The Utah Department of Transportation opened bids on a project to place a bituminous seal coat on a section of Utah Highway 12 in Garfield County. The project runs from Bryce Junction east for 7.3 miles. R. A. Childs, Inc. of Cedar City submitted the apparent low bid of , $108,654 on the work. UDOT's official engineers estimate was $116,770. A seal cost is a thin layer of pavement which seals the highway surface to protect it against moisture and deterioration and extends the life of the road. It also provides the best possible driving surface for motorists. Work on this project is expected to begin as soon as weather permits this spring. The contract stipulates work must be completed by June 20. Motorists should expect some traffic interference. |
