Show Prospective LPN Students Need to Apply Prospective students in Sevier Valley Tech's Licensed Practical Nursing Class of 1985 need to make immediate application because of a change in the course's starting time, according to program director Carol D. Jeppson. LPNs have a full, one-year course, unlike others at the Tech who attend only three quarters per year, and Miss Jeppson said the LPN Class of '85 will start work when spring quarter begins March 12. This new starting time for the LPN program makes it possible for them to graduate in May along with those from other Tech programs. First, formal application must be made for admittance to the Tech and to the LPN program. Second, the TABE adult achievement test is administered at the Tech by Kathleen Schoemig, related education teacher. Next, applicants must take another test, the GATB, which is administered at the Job Service office. Results are sent to Miss Jeppson. Applicants must supply two letters of reference, one for work and one for character. Forms for these letters may be obtained from the LPN office. The director also has personal interviews with each applicant. Appointments may be made on Mondays, Thursdays and Fridays. Finally, a transcript of high school and technical school or college grades must be forwarded to Miss Jeppson. All these requirements must be met before Feb. 1, according to Miss Jeppson. She indicated that a selection committee will review each application, interview each applicant, and announce by mid-February the names of those chosen to fill the IS openings in the class. |
