Show Escalante Town Clerk Glad to Be 'Back Home' ESCALANTE-"Home at last" is the welcome sign of Montell (Monte) Gates Jordan the newly hired town clerk of Escalante who has returned home after spending 39 years in Jacksonville and Las Vegas. Sandwiched in those 39 years was a stint as a single girl staying with her cousin in Los Angeles. Soon after her cousin married, she was introduced by the new bride and groom to her soon-to-be husband Lee, an Air Force master sergeant. After following him for several years in the military, they settled in Jacksonville, Lee going into automotive finance and Mrs. Jordan into accounting. Approximately 30 years later the couple retired to Las Vegas where they had been married. After six years when an opportunity came to return to Escalante, both Jordans jumped at the chance. Now they are remodeling their "new" 7C-year-old house and loving it. Mrs. Jordan says she loves her four-days-a-week job, and is busily getting reacquainted with old school chums and friends. The Jordans love camping and slip away every chance they get. They have four children and five grandchildren, all in Jacksonville. CARD OF THANKS We wish to express our thanks and appreciation to our friends for your cards and letters and phone calls and for your interest and prayers in our behalf during Dan's recent illness. He is up and around and doing fine. The doctor says he will be good as new in a couple more months. Dan and Nedra Tebbs |
