Show Problems Mounting TV Service Payment HENRIEVILLE - Oscar Willis, representing the Bryce Lions Club television committee expressed concern this week about the failure of many residents to pay their assessment for television reception in the area served by the Barney Top facility. Willis pointed out the value patrons receive for their investment, $20 annually or $2 monthly, an assessment which has not risen in many years despite inflationary increases elsewhere. Willis noted that the expensive equipment installed on Barney Top was paid for and installed by the Lake Powell Antennavlsion Inc., a cooperative group from Page, Ariz. Improved reception since last November when Bryce Lions were able to complete negotiations with LPA has benefited every television vie ver in the Bryce Canyon-Bryce Valley area. LTA has recently encountered some financial stress which could eventually lead to a need for a commitment for Bryce users larger than now required according to Willis. If all Bryce users would honor their monthly obligations, the Lions would havj enough to meet not only the current commitment to LPA, but also to prepare for any possible raise in assessment, he said. Willis pointed out that the equipment formerly used at Wilson Peak had been sold and Bryce must either stay with the Barney Top arrangements or purchase, at great expense, new equipment to return to the old system, Barney Top, he feels, offers television viewers in the Bryce Canyon Bryce Valley the greatest recreation bargain they can get anywhere and for only $2 monthly. Some viewers in the area are receiving Channel 20 since the Barney Top facility is UHF and must be converted to VHF for most users. Those with UHF antennaes should be able to receive Channel 20 Willis said. Serving. wih Willis on the Bryce Lions television committee are Earl Jolley, Joe Hughes and Phil Loria. |
