Show Scouts Learn Variety Of Skills at Area Pow-Wow Boy Scouts put bandgages on their buddies, learned about veterinary science and took each others fingerprints at the Powell Point and Panguitch District Boy Scout Merit Badge Pow Wow held in Panguitch last Tuesday This was the first of three instructional days the boys will take advantage of in helping them to pass merit badges. Each boy signed up for three different courses. Under the direction of Bob Gardner, Pow Wow chairman and helpers Earl Roe, Norm Davis and Jerry LeFevre, 108 boys rubbed shoulders during the event. The merit badges offered were: Citizenship in the community taught by Hilda Gardner, Edra Miller and Dr. Wallace Lee; citizenship in the nation. Kirk Moor and Bob Gardner; communication, Gloria Houston and Carol Hatch; environmental science, Norm McKee and Brent Christensen. First aid was also offered by counselors, George Whitting, Dave Ricks, Dave Dodds, and John Talbot ; personal fitness was taught by Ken Sevy and Maloy Dodds; safety, Dave Harris and Rick Burningham; forestry, Walter 'Pete' Pierson and Don Young; finger printing, Keith Fackrell; veterinary science, Jack Soper; emergency preparedness, Arthur Fulton and athletics, Ken Sevy. If the boys work hard during the three weeks it will take to complete the course they will earn three merit badges each. A few of the boys are earning the necessary merit badge to attain their Eagle award. |
