The doctor sent Marvin Mounteer home for ten days then he is to go back for heart surgery. Other ailing folks seem to be holding their own. James Mclnelly fell off a ladder at the church and although he did not break anything it shook him up considerably and he layed off work for awhile. The DUP held their first meeting last Wednesday with vice Captain Millie Mclnelly in charge. Captain Elda Haws Is still in Arizona. Millie and Twila Mclnelly went to Panguitch to meet Nedra Hall from Seattle, wash, and brought her here for a visit Mary Ellen Coleman spent a week in Aurora helping daughter Valeree Davies get caught up on her canning. Ivan Willis attended school board meetings In Salt Lake City. Nelda accompanied him and they came back by Mapleton and purchased fruit at the Seal orchards. The Melvin Alveys are grandparents for the first time; a baby girl was born to Ludnda and Newman Duncan at Cedar Qty. The State Fair, the temple excursion and the Dixie roundup took so many people out of town it was like the deserted village. Mary, LaVera and Clarice Griffin, Stan and Nets Haycock went to Provo for the wedding reception of Colton Baker, son of the Alfred Bakers of Teasdale. Marlene, Patrice and Jill Haws went to Salt Lake City. Mr. and Mrs. Herman Federwisch and daughter Cammie from Sedona, Ariz, moved Into the old Lorin Cot-tarn home on Main St by the bank. He is presently employed by the dty of Page and has a lumber yard there so commutes back and forth. They are trying to buy a place here big enough for themselves and 4 horses. Marie Hall is home after visiting family members in Cedar City. Jimmy Woolsey went to Colorado to visit Darlene Ridley. Dixie Mitchell was released as counselor in the Relief Society so the job Is up for bids. Jim and Erma Gates had a busy week; they went to Santa Clara to visit Sylva Graf and spent the forenoons doing temple work and the afternoons and evenings taking in the parades and rodeos. They saw Bill and Kathy Lamb and 2 kids. Bill Is being transferred to Washington, D.C they also talked to the Ron Guymans and the Frank Rowleys. Yukon Norman was thrilled to hear that her quilt took sweepstakes at the county fair and won 4th place at the State Fair. S tarns and Fon Mecham, Lane, Geraldine, Sherri and Gary Liston, Denise and Raylene Alvey, Danny Misenbach and Julie Droubay spent the weekend .in Green River with Janeen and Brad Duncan. Helen Hamblin went to Salt Lake City to meet her parents, Harold and Helen Slack who flew there from Anchorage, Alaska, she brought them here to live. Gurena Robinson has been in touch with daughter Beth Jacobson of California and found out the premature son of the Jacobsons has overcome his problems and is doing fine. Gurena spent some time with them. Missed last week the trip of Ruth and Curly Hale who attended the Iron County Fair and visited relatives in the area. The Hal Shurtzs had Kim and Vicki Nelson here for the weekend. The Gene Griffins, the Chuck Waynes and the Leo Wilsons took their sons North to enter the mission home and language school. Visitors at the Dan Baird home were Bp. and Mrs. Wen del Preston, Mr. and Mrs. Remo Hamblin of Roosevelt, Mr. and Mrs. Allen Bahr and family of Orem, Herman Bridges of Sevier, Mr. and Mrs. Robert Madsen, Mr, and Mrs. Kenneth Christensen and Eloise Rosequist of Richfield, April Clark of Tropic and Joan Clark of CannonvUle. Sacrament meeting was a testimonial for Wade Baird who is going on an LDS mission to Argentina. Talks were given by Dan Baird, Wendel Preston, MarJ and Wade Baird and Bp. Sharon Dale Marsh. Laura Lee Baird played a piano solo. Eva Dean Liston took her parents, the Ray Griffins North to visit family members. The hungry coyotes howl alot, they aren't being rude; environmentalists protected them so there's no sheep left for food. |
