Show Richard Sorensen, left, executive secretary ol Utah's Bicentennial Committee presents checks for $7,900 to Hilda Gardner, Garfield At a meeting held in Cedar City, Mrs. Hilda Gardner, Garfield County Bicentennial Committee project chairman, received grants from the State Bicentennial Committee, providing for all of the communities in the county to have grants except Tropic and Cannonville. Mrs. Gardner was assured by Richard Sorensen, executive secretary of the state committee that the money would be forth coming for the two other communities. The reason they have been held up is because the state landscape architect sent down !" from Utah State University have not completed the plans drawn for these two projects. , Grants received up to date are Boulder, $2,500; Antimony, $2,500; Hatch, $2,500; and Garfield County festival, $400. Bicentennial Projects In Garfield Get Funds Besides presenting the grants, plans were discussed at the meeting to mark the Escalante 1776 trail. This is a four state project of Colorado, Utah, New Mexico and rizona and the trail will be marked in 1976, |
