Show Escalante Chit Chat FAY ALVE"i We had clouds and very Impressive sound effects but no moisture. Most people manage to find enough to keep out of mischief. Arta Beth Pollock brought Ila Alvey home and stayed to help clean bouse and get her adjusted, when she left Blair Frazler brought" Geneal and two boys to stay a week. Ila looks good considering three months of hospital life. She Is rid of the severe pain which made life miserable, and is gradually getting her strength back. Neta Shirts is home able to get around some but no bending or anything strenuous. Mont Griffin is holding his own, Gurcna Robinson keeps trying to get around but the dizziness makes it hard as well as dangerous. Ed Mitchell spent some time in the Panguitch hospital but is back home with ills problems apparently under control. Helen Shurtz went to Salt Lake City to be with her brother Karl Zobell who had major surgery. He came through it ok. Beryl and Retha Shurtz took Ray to care for. Chase Shurtz went to Cedar City to meet daughter An nette McCool and two small sons and bring them here for a visit. Gary and Cindy Fontaine have a new daughter born at the Page Hospital Sunday. They timed things perfectly: Cindy's Mother, Minerva Bailey, her sister and husband, Mr. and Mrs. Karl Lind and two children arrived here In the late p.m. Saturday night. Dr. Kazan flew here in the a.m. Sunday to take the Fontaines to Page for the blessed event. That left Karl and myself to take the irrigation water. What some people do to get out of a night water turn. Kirk Lyman took son Claude and daughter Ethyl to Salt Lake City to board the plane for Wisconsin. LaVern and Mary Griffin went to Kanab to see that new grandson and of course the rest of Eldon's family. Rol and Mina Porter had son Merrill here for the weekend. He has employment In Montana. Koleen and Chuck Wayne spent several days in Provo. Ethyl Pollock had son Gary and family here. Missed (continued Inside) ESCALANTB (continued from front page) last week John and Erma Hamilton and part of their family here. The Wilford Listons had Donald and Marie and family from Pangultch, Verda went to Salt Lake City with them. LaRue Spencer had Junior and Linda Everett and son, Kathy Woolsey and daughter home. The Edson Alveys had Dee and Arvonnc Whittaker and family from Washington. Starns and Fon Mecham and Marlene Haws had business In Richfield. Judy Griffin, Karen, Kacee and Karol spent the weekend in Page. Mary Ellen and Hy-rum Coleman went to Richfield to join Doug and Gerry Mcln-elly to go North where they visited Alfred and Ada Heaps, Maud and Herman Spencer and met Irene and Louis Brown at the Salt Palace to enjoy the Ice Follies and the Fair. The Browns went right back to Rock Springs, Wyoming, to their job. It Is very nice having the town all together for church, it seems like Stake quarterly conference every week. The only disadvantage is the class rooms are a bit crowded. That will be ok when the weather ' cools off. In Sacrament meeting Sunday the speakers were Elmo Bushnell, Adrian Pollock and Ken Goulding, Kozan Pollock, Stephenie Shurtz and Jeanette Griffin sang accompanied b yDawn Griffin. Forest and Ruth Alvey had son LaDell and his sons here from Kanab for a weekend of fishing and visiting. The fishing was not too rewarding but the visiting was. MaeVon Taylor Is rather scared up from burns on arms and front of her person suffered when a pan of hot grease exploded. There is always some perfectionist upset by the Chit Chat: Faulty sentence structure, punctuation, and all that. It seems to Irritate them and that should make me mad but that kind of attention-cannot be all bad. It proves they read the column and that keeps me employed. I hope to hold their Interest by keeping them annoyed. |
