Show tscalante Chit Chat BY FAY ALVKY We had a stingy skiff of snow that wound up with another frost, then the weather turned quite pleasant. Morias Hall is home from the Panguitch hospital and Beumont Griffin is there, Lo-vell and Martha Twitchell took him over, of course Verda went along. Beumont had minor surgery but is doing ok. Elmer and Grace Moosman came to stay with Verda. Carl Moss is in St. George for medical treatment Beryl Shurtz had a freak accident which left him with a hitch in his hike; he was irrigating and cleaning weeds from the ditch with a pitch fork, he doesn't know how he managed to fall on the fork so that two tines stuck in the back of his leg, going through his rubber boot and clothing but it did and was very hard to pull out, he would have fainted but the cold water brought him out of It in a hurry, so he got home by himself. Charles and Nancy Everett had business in Richfield, so did Starns and Fon Mecham and Raylene Alvey. Dot and Anthony Coombs of Boulder left their two kids here while they went to Richfield and Sa-lina. Marlene Haws and Clor-ene Vldrine went to Provo. While Mother Alvey was in Provo she met Blenda Camb-ell who is a former resident of our county and said how she enjoys our paper. Cecil Dawn Porter, son Allen and daughter Laurie went to Salt Lake City, they stayed overnight in Midvale with the Jim Littles jinH lpnmprl that Riifi has his call to go on a mission to Japan. The Que Porters and the Alfred Chionos had a visit from Jim and Verda Oldham of Panguitch. Ray L. Alvey and partner Max Oliver came from Roy for the weekend and installed a new stove and some cabinet work for the S. J. Al-veys. Billle Barker was here from St. George. Hal and Ge-neal Shurtz had Kim and Vic-ki Nelson and family, Stan and Valeree Huntington and son, Verl Hard wick and daughter Laura. The Huntlngtons were the speakers in the North ward Sacrament meeting. The Starns Mechams had a visit from Malen, Angela and Viva Mecham of Tropic, and Etta Swapp of Overton, Nevada. Most of the college kids came home for the Junior Prom which was held Friday night with beautiful decorations, Imported music and a large crowd. The Ott Roun-dys had Vernon Dean's girls, Cheryl and Colette, Renon Reed and girls here from Monroe for the weekend. The Bill Griffins had Evan and Nlckl Excell and family who helped them to get the Frost shop o-pen for business. The able bodied members of the Riding club spent Saturday cleaning up the race track for the coming meet, A mutton fry was held that night with Dale Lyman fry cook and It was delicious. Several out of town guests were present. Blake Robinson was able to attend, he had been under the weather since the races in Phoenix. Mr. and Mrs. Henry Bolton of Woodland Hills, Calif, were here checking on the land they bought from Arnold Button, it is between the Button ranch and the Thurxnan Spencer ranch, they are looking forward to moving here to live. Harvey Liston was home for the weekend and reported a serious accident on the crusher crew where he is employed near Kanab; the foreman John Pointer was greasing a belt and was drawn into it crushing his right arm and shoulder, he is in the Kanab hospital. Some citizens we heard of being in Richfield were Millie Mclnelly, Dale Barney and Reed Wooley. Billle Davis and Guy Lemming went to Henrie-ville to inspect some cabinets in the church so Guy could build the North ward some like them. Guy and Twila went to Cedar City. Teepee Town, nestled on the bank of the Escalante River at the foot of colorful ledges, was the setting for a wedding late Sunday afternoon. Jean Irene Losli, a two year graduate nurse from the Panguitch hospital, exchanged vows with Joseph Dickinson, our former deputy sheriff. Bishop Billle Davis of the North ward performed the ceremony and many friends and relatives gathered to hear them 6ay "I do" and wish them the best of ev erything. Alfred and Machelle Foster were weekend guests at the Billle Davis home. Allie Spencer passed her 88th birthday anniversary Sunday. Pat and Bob Sorensen had a visit from relatives leaving Arizona going back to Michigan for the summer; Pat's mother Florence Hansen, cousins Charles and Louise Hegg, and Uncle and Aunt Bill and lone Lam-brlx. The Gulf Oil company are set up and drilling east of town and employing several local people. Stake quarterly conference was held with meetings Saturday afternoon and evening for stake officers and heads of organizations. The general session Sunday morning was conducted by Berlin Osborn. Invocation by Usher Spencer, the congregation sang one number and the choir two. There was some releasing and refilling of stake offices; talks were given by Lorell Munson, Helen Alvey, Lyle LeFevre, Ethelyn Taylor, and the visiting authority Henry D. Taylor. Benediction was by Chase Shurtz. If you have a feeling of confidence and sense no worries at al, don't strain your arm to pat your back, you're headed for fall rents most of the week. Speakers in Sacrament meeting were Craig Barney, Curtis Wilson, Jim and John Yardley of Panguitch; Mrs. Yardley and daughters accompanied them to church. Pres. Stanley Dalton of Circleville also attended meeting. Stake work-ers Dan Tebbs and Kern Owens attended Priesthood here. Will and Bob Lane and Curtis Wilson of BYU. Mr. Johnson and Linda Curley of Panguitch visited the Calvin Wilsons. Mrs. Wilson had a paint party Monday and Lorna Barnhurst had a kitchenware party Thursday. Mrs. Bob Devenport and baby of Panguitch visited Mrs. David Christian. Monday, the David Christians, Mike Evans, Kerry Sawyer, and Linda McAllister of Panguitch left to spend a few days In Las Vegas. |
