Show Lloyd Meets Locals On U.S. Land Uses Utah Representative Sherman P. Loyd, who met with local officials, Calvin Black, San Juan County Commission; James Yardley, Garfield County Commission; Dale Marsh, President Four Corners Development Assoc.; Paul Steed, FCOA; Judy Griffin, FCPA, said he is willing to adjust the boundaries of his proposed recreation area to prevent any pollution of Lake Powell or any, despoiling of the environmental quality of the area. Rep, Loyd says he feels the differences between his bill sponsoring a Glen Canyon Recreational Area and a corresponding senate measure can be ironed out. If we can present a common front, he said, we've got a reasonable chance of getting a bill passed this Congress. Also discussed were measures to seek construction of a road from Torrey into Boulder around the present east end of Boulder alignment. This road could be constructed while possibilities of a Glen Canyon Recreation road is being assessed. County commissioners of Garfield and Wayne, Forest Service, Four Corners Commission, and State Road Commission arc now planning a meeting to be held to coordinate plans for this road study. |
