Show County Civil Defense Info On Way Delivery ot the information in the Garfield County Community Shelter Plan is to begin January 15, 1973, and James t Yardley, Chairman bf lie County Communion, has asked the public to be on the lookout for it. Each county plan contains Information about what to do and where to go in case of a nuclear emergency, along with a complete list of approved public fallout shelters in the area, and directions on how to reach them. There arc also instructions and information explaining how to build a shelter in a home should a person be unable to reach a public shelter. Since many residents live outside of downtown city areas, these instructions are of particular significance. The plan also contains general information regarding nuclear radiation and fallout. While It Is hoped that residents will never have to use this information, it should be kept in a safe, convenient place. Studies indicate that In case of a nuclear attack by an enemy, over 100 million lives would be saved by proper fallout shelter. Many people would survive the initial blast but would then be exposed to lethal radiation fallout unless proper shelter was providjd. The information developed in the Garfield County Community Shelter Plan could save tre lives of thousands of persons in the event of attack. This information has been the result of careful analvsU and professional planning. The people of GarfMd County are urecd to read the information care- fully and then put it with their other valuable papers. Delivery will be by mall and Is expected to be completed by January 30, 1973. If you live In Garfield County and do not receive a Community Shelter plan, contact your local Civil Defense Office. |
