Show Escalante Chit Chat BY FAY ALVEY Had some wild winds which took the rest of the leaves from the trees and piled them up where they were not wanted, also took off tree limbs and everything else not securely anchored. There is always some unfortunate folks sick or afflicted, Ila Alvey and Mildred Adair are both hospitalized in Salt Lake City. Bill and Sharon Francisco took Mildrd to Cedar City where the doctors sent her on to Salt Lake, Bill kept the kids and Sharon took her. Ila fell in her home breaking some bones, Roger Attwood took her to Panguitch in the ambulance and Dr. Duggins sent her on to Salt Lake. Florence and Hode went along and Florence came home with the ambulance. They operated on Ila and she came through it ok. Bessie Griffin Is having quite a struggle to keep going, there don't seem to be much the doctors can do for hsr. Bonnie Chiono is home making the best of her loss. Thanksgiving Day was very quiet, those here stayed home visiting and eating, a big percent went elsewhere for turkey dinner. The Lymans, Gwen, Randal, Blaine and Evelyn went to California to visit the Dick Lymans and Milton Wool-seys. Hyrum and Mary Ellen Coleman spent the holiday in Beaver with Lynn and Garna Mclnclly and family. Blake and Gurcna Robinson went to Texas where Joe and Rhoda Allen and family are. Renee and Berlin Osborn were invited to spend the day in Henrie-vile with Bernlce and Kenny Goulding. Lovell and Martha Twitchell went to Panguitch at the Srlb Gillies where most of the family met them. Craig came from Idaho, Larena Langston and family, Curtiss Larsen and family, Rotls and Beth Coleman and family; Craig and the Lar-sens came here for the weekend. Louise and Mayo Roundy visited in Salt Lake, Caron and Ruby Griffin went to Orem. Vernon and Hazel Griffin took family members from here and met the rest of them in Richfield for Thanksgiving, they were all there except Ma-rlyn Brant who Is too far away. Festos Is out of the Service now and will work in Richfield for brother-in-law Calvin Eyre until he decides what to do with his new freedom. Leah Griffin and family, Val Haws and Jay Porter went to Provo to visit Mary Porter. The Starns Mechams, Marlene Haws and family, Lane and Geraldlne Liston and family had Thanksgiving dinner in Hatch at the Ivor Rlggs home. Twlla Mclnelly spent several weeks in Salt Lake wltn IIal and Myrna Barker, she came to Panguitch for Thanksgiving then on home to find herself a month behind in her work. The High School started Parent-teacher conferences. The Glen Shaw family went to Washington for more than the holiday. The Gary Fontanes spent the weekend in California. Reed Wooley got word that his mother Clarle of Orem had fallen and had broken bones, cuts and bruises, he went right up. All of the college kids were home for the holiday. The Edson Alveys had Dee and Arvonne Whittaker and girls from St. George, Lana and Tom Jordon and son of Duchesne. Grant Liston had sons Mark and Lee and Marlyn and David Griffin. The Stanley Haycocks had Doug and Barbara and family, Woodrow and Helen and family. The Wa-nless Alveys had Dick and Don-nette Lee and girls home. The Frank Imlays had Francis and Barbara and girls of Delta. Hie Lorenzo Griffin had Lew-Is and Jean and family of Provo, Lois Reeves and family of Las Vegas. Delmer Cottam spent a few days with his mother Euzell. The Vergean Porters had the newlyweds home. Chuck and Linda Everett came from Nevada to get the rest of their belongings. The Hal Shurtz home had Stan and Valeree Huntington and son, Kim and Vickie Nelson and daughters. The Calvin Shurtzs had Ivan and Klea and family, Dorthy and Newell Cowles and family, of course they shared the latter with Danell and Orilla Cowles who also had grandson David, son of Leon, who is a student at BYU, he had his friend Reed Nelson. They furnished a musical number for the North ward Sacrament meeting. David played the piano and Reed the harmonica and guitar. Doyle Cottam and Leland Haws were the speakers. The South ward supposed the Seminary was putting on the program, Three young people did show up, Ca-mille Spencer gave a talk, Patrice Griffin and Donene Liston played a piano-organ duet, then Bishop Griffin called people from the audience, they were Louise Mounteeer, Bernlce Wilson, Leah Griffin, Dar-rell Munson, Curtiss Larsen. Usher Spencer took Eva back to Richfield for a checkup, she is feeling some better. Others having business in Richfield were Hal and Geneal Shurtz and some of their family, Parley and Leda Pratt, Brian Griffin, Sariah Alvey, Minnie Davis, Thelma Cottam, Areola Gates and Iabell Spencer. LaRae, Cheryl and Colette Roundy visited relatives here. Raymond Shurtz visited his mother and other relatives. Those we heard of having business In Panguitch were Billie Davis, the Griffins Vernon, Mont, Ethyl, and La Vera. Judy K. Griffin had her folks here for the holiday. Nellie Bailey had Alfred and Connie Jepsen and family here from California. The Stan Lb-tons had daughter Lois home, also Bunny and husband. Dr. Cloyd Mecham was here Saturday accompanied by his wife. The High School basketball team played two games over the weekend and won them both, the visitors were Green River and Dixie. Lola Zenz spent a few days here from her Job in Page. The Wilford Lis-tons had Donald and Marie and family here for Thanksgiving. Al and Leda Mae Foster and family and their friend Nonle and two sons were at the Davis home. Dot and Anthony Coombs brought their turkey and came to my house for dinner. Missed last week the family members at the Clyde Spencer home, J.C. and Opal of Maple-ton, Venice and Talmage Taylor and family members of Delta, Mr. and Mrs. Dallas Valentine of Brigham City, Debra and Paul Barney who are students at Logan, Doug and Marie Loslee and family of Richfield. Visitors at the Orville Cowles home were Mr. and Mrs Garn Webb and kids, Ellis, Ronnie and Marlyn. Raymond Mc-Ewen, his wife and kids and Jerry McEwen. Blaine and Velma Durant and family were at the Arnold Alvey home. The Cub Scouts put on a play under the direction of Joyce O'Neal: they wrote a play entitled "Why I did not discover America." The boys designed their own costumes and it was enjoyable for every one involved. The water company called a special meeting to vote on some weighty propositions but there was some competition and indecision which caused a postponement of the voting, hope we can get some Inspiration on the deal. Thanksgiving now Is over but before it even came Christ-mas talk was everywhere. Isn't it a shame to run them In to-geter causing such confusion, they should be separate holidays to save us from delusion, |
