Show Escalante Chit Chat -- I v LWv Cold old January - that snow just sits there, has settled and hardened but looks like it would last forever. It is too cold to make news or anything else except fires. Some bravo souls went on holiday trips in spite of the weather. The Frank Imlays went to Filmore and the Glen Imlays came, from Kanosh here. The Grant Spencers had all of their family except son Keith. Wayne and wife came from Ogden, Cici and family from Pan-guitch. Keith called from Texas telling them he had his car stolen. He works for the El Paso police force and had driven his car to the station, locked it, and had his keys, when he went back for it, no car, he figured it had about $200 worth of his belongings in it. He was not too happy about a recent change in his line of work, was with the wrecks dept. and was transferred to homicide and got in on some horrible messes. The Reed Wooleys had son Neal and family here, he always makes himself useful a-round the place like cleaning the dead Indians out of the TV and such jobs. Talked with Whitey Porter, he looks pretty good considering what he has been through, he cannot put any weight on his leg but is becoming quite an artist with those sticks, he has exercises to do twice a day and is determined to follow orders and walk again. He made it home in time for their wedding anniversary which was the same as Minnie and Billie Davis, the shortest day in the year. Another two couples having a double wedding were Arnold and Deon Alvey and Frank and Kathryn Colemn, they usually celebrate togther; it is also Arnold's birthday. Frank's birthday is the 27th, so was the three Spencers, Marjie, Bobbie and Marion. Don Coleman celebrates his birthday along with Christmas, mine and Jaleen Pollock's comes three days later when everyone is broke and all tired out. The Lions Club held a holiday party which was a White Elephant deal, everyone brought something they did not use and traded for something they really needed. Some folks had birthday parties, others of us just very quietly, without fanfare became one year older. The ball boys learned quite u bit on their three day tour; Boyd Griffin said he really got a kick out of the trip, the biggest he had ever gotten out of a trip to Richfield Jim Alvey did not make much of a hit, in fact he turned out to be quite a sore head, Joey Covington found out what it means to have one's buck against the wall Hal and Myrnu Barker and family move-! back from Salt Lake Cit; I ito the old Mclnelly family home, their home is still rented. The Arthur Mclnellys had Mary Davis and boys here while Sherril went to Calif, on business. If you see an odd track coming down the highway it could have been made by Micky Smith, son-in-law of Morias Hall, he lost a wheel and came on in on three wheels and a prayer. Lamolne Pollock, Hal Shurtz, Rex Lawrence and Karl Thur-ber had school business in Pangultch. That Karl is a trusting soul, he got word from friends in Arizona to come during holidays and do some work for them, so he loaded a trailer with tools of his trade, not school teaching, but mason ery, bedding, clothing, and the whole family went along. They stocked up on groceries, etc., for the return trip and about half way between Flagstaff and Page, a wheel came off the trailer, so they unhooked the car and came on home, returning next day for their belongings and found the trailer ok but nothing in it; he estimated the loss at $1400.
