Show Escalante Chit Cha BY FAY ALVEY Had a light rain with a few snow flurries reminding us that winter could take over any time. Some folks are all ready for it, even to having their garden hose put away, then there's some of us who never would be ready. It is calf weaning time with the usual sound effects. Relatives are taking Reeves Baker to Salt Lake City for treatment, he is constantly under oxygen and having quite a struggle. Laura will accompany him and stay with her sister Olive. Laurel came from Orem weekends to help. Deanna Heap and children vis lted her folks in the Salt Lake area, she traveled with the A-say boys who are building the Heap house. It is nearing completion and they can hardly wait to get moved in. Clella Woolsey has son Danny and wife here; he has a . . j... i.,.i.,k Kafnm an. inircy any lunuug" a-ing to Viet Nam, they spent some time in Richfield. Bill and Kathy Lamb. Robert and Norma Mitchell and family went to Salt Lake City where the men attended BLM meetings. Marlene Haws and Fon Mecham went to Cedar City. Paul and Louise Mounteer had business in Salt Lake City. So did Hllo Boyce, he went for eye surgery, one of his daughters came for him. Gar-neal Smith took her kids to St. George for their regular dental treatment, Iris Porter and Zella Alvey accompanied her. The Stanley Haycocks have son Wood row and family here, he has Just been released from the Army, he put In some extra time In Viet Nam to be released sooner. Douglas and family came from Moab to visit him. We are always glad to see the boys home safely. Buck Lund went to Phoenix, Arizona for medical treatment. Geraldlne Liston, Dixie Mitchell and Jaleen Pollock went to Richfield. Gurena Robinson has her mother, Rhoda De-Lang here from Koosharem. Dlanne and Darrell Alvey had her dad, Bill Cluff and a friend here frc-n Arizona The Alveys went north, had basin ess in Salt Lake and visited the Ray L Alveys in Roy. Robert Haws and Richard Sidwell found employment In Cedar CI' v, that's where wan-ny Reed is working, he and Jo- and of course the baby via ited here on the weekend. They had quite a baby show at the Vernon Griffins; Shona Woolsey and Caroline Eyre were here from Sevier Valley with their little ones. Kent and Phyllis Mclnelly and family spent the weekend here with Twila, and did some bird hunting. Thais Griffin and kids visited her folks in Panguitch. Betty Alvey had her sister Kathy Goulding here from Henrieville. Some of our young people were not satisfied with the recent holiday so put on a post Halloween demonstration which really knocked the wind out of things. It grounded quite a number of our citizens and was very inconvenient. The Berlin Osborns have a new grandson born to Milton and wife in South Carolina, this is their third bo v and they have a girl. Karl Moss spent imat utaaIt hil 1 1 uuiguig paper in Cedar City for a relative. The Moss folks bought the Sox Spencer home and are remodeling It to fit their needs. Dale Schow is here visiting Emmet Porter, he has been released from the Navy. The Alfred Chionos had a visit from their brother-in-law Elmer Smith who bought the Barton Deuel home and is moving his belongings here. He was accompanied by Johnny and Ethyl Agustus from Whlt-tler. Calif. They like this country and would like to live here away from the smog and confusion. The Chionos want to thank the kind people who have befriended them; Sariah Alvey, Dinah Christensen, Ka-tneryn Coleman, Bessie Grif fin and Joyce Porter. Joyce gives Bonnie's spirits a lift by keeping her hair well groomed. The Stake Laurel convention was held heia In the South ward church with a good attendance from all the wards. Champ Church and Jim Yardley of Panguitch were here but not together. Walt and Virginia Dane entertained friends on Halloween. Bruce and Beth Burr attended an Elks meeting In Cedar City. Ardis Christensen and daughter Mary Blauser went to Pan euitch. so did Sarlah. Deon, Janene Dcnise and Ravlene Alvey and Mable Griffin. Ivan and Nelda Willis went to Richfield where they met at Rlwood's by Lowell and Dor-thy, then they got a phone call from Lynn Mclnelly that he thought the stork was on the way so they hurried to Beaver in time for the birth of a fine baby boy, he and Garna are both doing well. Lynn Is walking on cloud nine. Ivan and Nelda brought the two little girls here Marlyn and Deloy Christen sen had a visit from relatives from the land northward. It looked like most of the college kids were home. Missed one gal attending CSU, Grena Mclnelly, she Is doing her student teaching In Parowan. Earl and Nethella Woolsey went to Green River and visited Earlene and Homer Nelson and attended the dedicatory service of Interstate Highway 70. It was well attended with Governor Rampton cutting the ribbon. State Road official Mr Helland was present. Clem Church was in charge. This road is a short cut from the East to I-os Angeles. The mayors of Richfield, Sallna and Green River were In attendance. Otto and Hilda Roundy were in Richfield. Usher and Eva Spencer went to St. George to the temple ceremonies and got In a terrific snow storm after leaving Cedar City. Francis and Barbara Imlay and daughters were Sunday visitors at the Frank Imlay home; they reported the wedding recep Hon of Jerry and bride a very successful affair, the Cowles relatives went from here. Frank and Idella did not go as the doctor told Idella to keep her leg elevated and that Is a rather ungraceful position for public gatherings. In Sacrament meeting Sunday it was High Council Day. the South ward speakers were Berlin Osborn, Kay Mangum. and Evan Chynoweth; the North ward listened to Alton Shakespear, Kenneth Goulding and Ellis LeFevre. Quinn Griffin got his call to fill an LDS mission to Bolivia, he is to go Into the mission home Jan. 9th and attend the BYU language school for two months. Dinah and Mohr Christen sen entertained friends at dinner. Marjle and Thurman Spencer had friends in election night to await the returns. Now that election is over we had hoped to relax once again, but those fellows mixed up in politics have started the next campaign. |
