Show Escalante Chit Chat - FAY ALVEY Had a variety of weather from sunshine to frost; it rained one day then cleared up with a killing frost that turned the apricot blossoms black. Some of the sick are better and others have been added to the list. Reeves Baker became ill and called Lizzie Porter who called Dr. Duggins who said to bring him over, so Robert Lis ton and Ken Sleight took him and left him for tests and treatment. Laura Baker had a tortureous trip to Salt Lake but after being hospitalized she was not so uncomfortable, they think her leg has a good chance of healing without surgery. She is in the St. Mark's Hospital, Room 425. Philo Pratt is still in the Panguitch hospital holding his own. TheSpence Haycocks have daughter Mary Lynn Sidwell home but not able to do anything, her neck is in one of those high stiff collars. There are still folks having flu. Beryl Shurtz and his dog have a hitch in their hikes, the dog was run over by a traveling salesman then kicked by a bull Retha does not know whether Beryl's limp is through sympathy for the dog or if he has been attacked by one of the ites boys, afraid it might be arthur. Twila Mcln-elly was riding Eddie Stone chasing a calf when the calf dodged through a hole in the fence too small for the horse He stopped short then whirled losing Twila, but she managed to light so her bruises do not show. The Edson Alveys were made grandparents by the birth of a little girl to Arvonne and Dee Whittaker in Germa ny. Hal Shurtz spent a week in Arizona on school business. Geneal accompanied him. Ivan Shurtz got a job in Us Vegas Lane and Geraldine Liston. Theron and Dixie Mitchell, La moine and Jalene Pollock, Don and Judy Kelly spent the week end in Las Vegas. They made it home with their shirts. Wally Woolsey and two sons came for the weekend to get started on the construction of the service station. The Cave men visited here before leaving for Colorado to see Cliff's son before he leaves on a three year assignment in Venezuela. John and Lola Zenz went to Cedar City to take an order of Rock Shop items to the Park Service. Carrie Griffin entertained the Friendship club last week. Morris and Neta Shirts had a week's visit from Emma Gool sby of Georgia, she has worked for the Utah Parks 16 years and Neta worked with her last summer at Bryce Canyon. Mor ris and Neta took her to Page and Glen Canyon Dam then back to Parowan where she is spending the winter. The Dale Marshes had a visit from Warren and Kathleen Woolsey and small son, they stopped at the Pink Cliffs and visited Ray and Mildred Adair. The Adairs were here checking on their home The Lovell Twitchells got word that son Craig was hospitalized with measles Glen and Sue Stoddard of Roy visited the Wayne Spencers and their horses. Mr. and Mrs Ervin Burrows and family went to Provo for the funeral services for Ervin's aunt. Wes Burrows came from St. Geoge to check on range conditions. Minnie Davis has some more help to run the North ward Relief Society, Flora Leibenguth is 2nd counsel or and Deon Alvey secretary The Morias Halls had daughter Marilla Jolly and part of her family here from Cedar City Arnold Alvey went back to work with Ioyle Cot 1. 1111 Iris Porter had business in Panguitch then went on up North to visit Marvin Moun teer was in Panguitch for a checkup Billie and Minnie Davis took Sariah Alvey to Gunnison to meet son Ray I. who took her north to spend a week. Her daughter Wanda Hansen was coming from Kennewick. Wash ington for the Primary conference. The Frank Imlays have his sister, Mrs Harry Baugh here from Ogden. Glen Unlay went to Kanosh to take over a service station, trailer court and Artie Circle. Coleen and the kids go over on weekends and will move there when school is out. Loyd and Betty Alvey had Richard Porter and family, Ven-oy and Ann Tullis and son of Bountiful, Clea Woolsey and family of American Fork, Jerry and Rosalee Coleman and family of Kanab, Alburn and Myrtle Woolsey and Dick Thompson of Lent, Norm and Elise utt of Tropic. Among other places they went to Mesa. Arizona to visit an old Service buddy and school mate of Vernon's, he is in the Air Force and leaving a wife and eight kids to go to Viet Nam. His next door neighbor is Bob and Sandra Porter, so the Spencers visited them also. Do some fellow a good turn, treat him like a brother, you can bet before long he'l expect you to do another. |
