Show Regulations Set for Cutting of Christmas Trees State Forestry Regulations Except as otherwise provided by law, It shall be unlawful for any person, firm, company or corporation, his, its, or the aganta, wilfully or negligently to cut, mutilate, destroy or remove any Chrismas tree, or knowingly transport or sell any Christmas tree from lands of another without written consent from the legal owner or his duly authorized agent. 'Unwritten consent shall contain a legal description of the land where the Christmas tree is to be harvested; number and species of the Christmas trees to be harvested; name and present address of the legal landowner; and algnature of legal landowner or his authorized agent. Each Christinas tree .ut and or removed from any land In I tah and being transported or offered for sale In the statu shall bear a tag faatened to to the mo in stem of the tree Tags for Chrismas trees cut and removed from federal lands shall be obtained from the federal land management agency concerned. Taga for Christinas traea cut trout oon- federal lands shall be obtained from the state forester or his agent. A Christmas tree will be tagged as soon as It Is cut and before it Is removed from its original location Once attached to the tree, the tag shall not be removed, except by the individual user and at the time the Christmas tree is placed in use for decoration. Any person proposing to cut more than ten ChrL mas trees or propoaing to cut Christmas trees for commercial purposes on any non-federal lands shall give notice to that effect to the state forester at least ten days prior to the commencement of cutting operations The state forester shall determine ownership and will check with landowner to determine if the cutter is entitled to hai vest the Christmas tins If determination is favorable, a shipping permit and a sufficient number of Christmas tree tags will be issued to that each Christmas tree cut may be tagged The ahipping permit, or true copy, shall be carried by person who cuts, removes, trans ports, or stores the trees. This shipping permit shall be exhibited to the state forester and any person appointed by him and any officer of the law, at his request. Christmas trees cut in Utah for commercial purposes snd being transported by any vehicle or means of conveyance, Including a common carrier, in or out of the state, must be accompanied by u shipping permit obtained from the state forester or his agent. Christmas trees shipped Into or through Utah must be accompanied by a shipping permit If required by the laws of stste of origin If the stste of origin does not require a ahipping permit, Christmas trees must be accompanied by a permit, bill of sale or contract, or true copy thereof, signed by landowner or his authorized agent, showing the origin by legal land description and number of trees in the load being tran sported For further information contact the State Forester'f Office 525 W. 1300 &., Salt Luke City, Utah 84118. |
