We have some clouds but so far no moisture and it is cooler. Lane Liston has to do things one handed; he was working with a cat. and got two fingers mangled. Don Kelly flew him to Page where he had a cast and a finger brace, very painful Bessie Griffin is home from the Panguitch hospital to see all those things she ought to do and can't. The John Normans have a new granddaughter bora to Linda and Delmas Overall at the Page hospital Rickle Haws hart Ms foot at the races in Panguitch but the extent of the injuries is not yet determined. John Zenz is home from the hospital, Lola brought him but he Is still having problems. They had company; Paul and Betty Stockinger and Freda Suma of South Bend, Indiana, Clix Byrne, Harold and Laretta Bingham and Keith Daniels of Ogden, Paul and Arna Casin, David and Robyn Bancroft of Cedar City. Walter Dane is limping around as a result of being a Good Samaratan; he was mowing Zenz's lawn and the mower throwed some sharp object which went through his shoe and cut his foot. Verda and Beumont Griffin had a houseful and then some of relatives and friends; Elmer and Grace Moosman of West Jordon. their son Fred and his family of Bountiful, Fern and Lalne Anderson of l,as Vegas, Joe and Selena Fessenden of Calif. The Ed Mitchells had son Garlan and family from Cedar City. Marvin Porter came from Arizona, he brought his girl and two of Renee's girls and took his boy home. DeRay and Lizzie Porter had Hazel and Albert Carlson and part of their family from Le-hi, they all went to the Barker Reservoir to visit and fish. Ivan and Nelda Willis went to Cedar City for the graduation exercises of son Lowell who has a BS degree In Chem is try Thelma Cottam also graduated In Elementary education, her family all went with her to share the honors. The Willis home had Elwood and Vaunda and family from Richfield and Lowell and Dor-thy came from Cedar City. Daniel and Orilla Cowles went to Kanosh to visit the Glen Imlays and U attend the graduation exercises of grandson Jerry from the Fillmore High, Donald Cowles went al so. The other grandparents, Frank and Idella Imlay wanted to go but Delia did not feel equal to the trip They had a visit from Frank's brother Ash-by and his wife Ina of Ogden Some local citizens and former residents met at Whltey's cafe to pay honor 10 LaVon Liaton of I ob on his 70th birthday anniversary, those attending were Daniel and Oril la Cowles. Verda Conover, Ad elald and Kills Shurtz. Calvin and Laretta Shurtz, Dorthy and Newell Cowles, Harvey and Eva Dean Liston, Sandra Liston and her girl friend, Ruth Spencer, Alice Chappel, and Isabel! Spencer They vis- ited and had refreshments. We had two of our young people graduate from Sevier Valley Trade Tec. at Richfield. Kris Johns from a one year business course and Danny Woolsey from two year mech anics. Danny was an A student and got a scholarship to the Snow College at Ephraim for a thirty six week course. Clel-la Woolsey and Martha Johns and son Butch went to Richfield for the graduation of the 49 students. They held a banquet and program at the Rainbow cafe. Clella had her daughters home from Wyoming for the long weekend, Judy Ludgate from Riverton and Joy Reid of Rock Springs. Eldon Griffin came from Rock Springs to visit his parents, LaVern and Mary, he left his wife Amber in Richfield to visit her folks. Jolynn Griffin and Lola Rae Liston went to Wayne County for the wedding reception of a friend. Many of the Colemans and other relatives went to Wayne County for the funeral services of Ernest Peterson who was killed in a tractor accident. The Vernon Stowes had a visit from his brother Tex and family from Salt Lake. Tex is a cabinet maker and did some nice work around the house while they visited. Wade Griffin spent one night at the Stowe home, he brought his fiancee, Dawnel Hatton of Fillmore to meet his friends here, she stayed at the Gene Griffin home. Vernon and Margene went to Salina to visit son Ronnie and wife before they left for Portland, Oregon where he will attend Dental School for four years. He will be near his uncle. Dr. Leon L. Cowles. Kate Porter had daughter Janet and husband Bob Nell-son and of course Lawnie here from Salt Lake. Lamar Grade brought Gloria and the baby from Riverton and left them, they went back with Judy Ludgate. Vio and Gene Sudweeks of Kingston spent the day here. The Vernon Griffins had daughter Marlyn, her husband Richard Brant and their three youngsters here from Wyo., and son Raymond and wife Marsha from Richfield. Gene Hughes has gone back to the Rat Race in San Diego, he fits right in here as he remembers people by the horses they ride Bobble and Art Mc Clure wore here from California, we n ade several attempts to see them but they were busy seeing all o! the scenic attractions. People who did see then, said Bobble had gained a few pounds in the right places and looked great. Gwen Lyman went back to Calif, with them to await the arrival of some grandchildren. Wayne and lone Barney had an anxious three days wheu daughter Jill left Phoenix, Arizona to drive the sixteen hundred miles alone to Biloxe, Mississippi where her husband Kent lelgh is stationed in the Air Force, she made it ok, we knew you could do it Jill. Wayne had a v.sil from his brother CUne, his wife and daughter from Salt Lake Re (continued on back page) ESCALANTE (continued fro front page) ind Eva Allen were here and either had their family or some one elses, Grant Mclnelly was here from West Jordon. The MortAs Halls have daughter Lillian here, she Is going to leave for school In Provo. Erma Gates went to Richfield to get Jim, Lavina Pollock accompanied her and attended the graduation exercises of her grandson Steven. Clyde and Llllie Spencer bad a granddaughter graduate the same night, Shauna Loslee, they went out for the event. The Spencers had Venice and Talmage Taylor and family here from Delta for the long weekend. Guy Pollock brought Lavina home and hit family came too for the weekend. The Gall Baileys had son Tenil and Mike Hatch and wife here. The S. J. Alveys had son Ray L. and family here from Roy, we had son Jim home from Provo, he brought Jo Chrlstensen and her cousin Kathy. Vernon Porter and family of Vernal were here. Starns Mecham went to Monroe and Ron Mecham to Paro-wan where his family la. The Mait Spencers had son Lael and family here, the little girl stayed to help Grandma with her work. The Ott Roundys had Gene and Renon Reed and girls, and Vernon Dean, his wife Peg and that new boy. Grandpa is anxious to teach the little feller to fish The WUford Listons had son Donald and his son here from Panguitch. Noticed Doug and Barbara Haycock, she still don't wear shoes. The Calvin Shurtzs had Ivan and Klea and the little girl here from Cedar City. Roy Hard wirk and family all he has left, Verl and one girl, were here from Mid vale Bill and Winona Boyle had their daughter home, talked to She rl; she and Marly n Lyman have an apartment with new furniture, they both like their jobs and are getting along fine in Salt Lake City. Dee Haws took his horses to Prescott, Arizona, Elda stayed here and had a visit from Jean and Marty Stock and kids of Salt Lake. Bill and Sharon Francisco and boys were here from Coalville, we visited with Bill briefly, he Is working at Snowfield on the same job with my brother, Jim Little. Sharon Dale Marsh has his wife and daughters home, the new baby and Shirley are doing fine. Dixie Mitchell and Jalene Pollock went to Cedar City for appointments. Nell Barker has daughter Betty Jean Ross and family here from Colorado. Wood row Haycock la one happy fellow, he was chosen to go to school in mechanics instead of taking regular army training. Roe and Clema Barney and three kids came from Page for the weekend: they stayed with Jane Woolsey and really helped her out. Clema cleaned In the house and Roe and Tim fixed up outside. Mitzie stayed for a longer visit. She will spend some time with her other Grandma. Grace Barney . Reeves snd Laura Baker have son Wllmer and family here from Missouri They drove to Sslt Lake to attend the wedding of one of her sis ten and see a brother whom they had not seen since 84, he Just returned from s mission They stopped In Provo and visited Laurel and brought her two girls here with them Wll-mer's friend, Gordon Stewart of Ogden met him here to fish ' and visit. Laura said they were all having fun. Laura's sister Dora Vowell and Myrtle Hunt of Blanding got a young fellow to fly them in for part of the day of Memorial. Did not get to see Dora but those who did said how pretty she is. Visited briefly with Mrs Hunt, she has lost a lot of weight and gets a-round good in spite of the silver plate in her hip. She said she would like to come and live here again, and we would like to have her, she still has that delightful aense of humor and enjoys a good joke, even If it is on her. We talked of things that happened during the depression when we all lived up there together and the Government men came in and put a. quarantine on the old back house. Afton and Velda Barney were here from Richfield. J.C. Haws, his wife and daughter were here from Brigham City and Ben Haws, his wife and daughter from Provo. Wallace Roundy had son Vivian and family here from Salt Lake City. Billle and Minnie Davis had Bonnie and Holbert Smith and son here from Cedar The Reynolds family were all here except Dale. The graves are decorated, the fish are on the run. there's work to keep all busy. Isn't Springtime fun? |
