Fish Hatchery Gets State And Federal Rebuilding Funds The Utah Fish and Game Department has entered into an agreement with the Bureau of Sport Fisheries and Wildlife to share costs of rebuilding the Panguitch Fish Hatchery in Garfield County, according to John C. Gatlin, Regional Director of the Department of the Interior's wildlife agency. Using Accelerated Public Works funds, made available by the Federal Government to increase employment opportunities as well as improve conditions for fish and wildlife, theBureau will pay one-half of the estimated cost of $36,000. The Panguitch Hatchery, which has been in operation since 1923, will provide finget ling trout and kokanee salmon to stock impoundments in southwestern Utah, such -as Panguitch.. Lake, which was renovated and restocked under another federal aid project. Other lakes in the immediate area built or Improved through use of federal aid funds are Anderson Meadows, Manning Meadows, Johnson Valley and Le-Baron Reservoir. The increased output of the stocking-size trout .and salmon made possible by renovation of the Panguitch Hatchery will be of great value to the Utah Fish, and Game. Department in their, program of improving the sport fishing in the southwestern part of the state. This hatchery is also within easy driving, distance of. Lake Pow---cllrintoi which the-UtaU'De- partment has already stocked kokonee salmon, along with o- -ver three million trout from federal hatcheries. |
