Show JIt ... Eleanor Powell to appear on Bell Telephone Hour Dec. 17. BELL TELEPHONE HOUR Eleanor Powell, dancing star of Broadway stage and Hollywood fame, will appear on the Bell Telephone Hour over NBC-TV, Channel 2, on Dec. 17 at 8 p.m. Other members of the all-star cast include Ey-die Gormo and Stevo Lawrence, concert pianist Lorin Hollander and Metropolitan Opera soprano Birgit Nilsson. Miss Powell, lured out of retirement last year, has made a brilliant comeback in supper clubs and television engagements. A star at 17V4 years old, Miss Powell started dancing professionally at 13 when she opened in her first Broadway show 'Follow Thru'. This was followed by George White Scandals, Earl Carroll's Varieties and Ziegfeld's Follies. A new phase of her career started when she made her first movie, "Broadway Melody of 1936". It was the first of many hit .motion pictures in which she starred. After 15 years of retirement she opened in 1962 at the Dunes in Las Vegas to win high critical acclaim. |
