Show Downpour Damages East Fork Range U.S. FOREST SERVICE NEWS On Tuesday, Dec. 6, the East Fork of the Sevier River a-bove Tropic Reservoir was hit by torrential rains and flooding. Heavy damage to new Range Revegetation projects and other Improvements was reported by Forester Marvin Meier, Damage to roads, fences, bridges, culverts, and watershed rehabilitation work was evident everywhere. Tho Forest Service rain gage at Sieler Creek showed 9 inches of moisture during the four day rain and snow. This represents one-third of the normal yearly total. Moisture recorded in the Panguitch area for this period, Dec. 1st to 8th, totaled .61 of an inch. High temperature was 59 occurring on Dec. 1. The low, 14, was recorded the same day and again on Dec. 8. |
