Show Samuel Pollock Of Tropic Long-Time Garfield County Commissioner Dies On 9th, Funeral Set For Feb. 13th Samuel Pollock, 79, died in the Panguitch hospital after surgery on Feb. 9th. He was born Sept. 17, 1885 in Kanarraville to Wesley and Eunice Mecham Pollock. On Oct. 7, 1909 he married Emily Arilla Davis in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. Mr. Pollock served for 18 years as a member of the Garfield County Commission and was a member of the Five County Organization. Under his direction, the Cottonwood Road, which helped to shorten the trip from northern Utah to Glen Canyon Dam, was built. An active member of the LDS Church, he served in the Tropic Ward Bishopric as Counselor for 18 years, was Bishop of Tropic Ward for four years, Panguitch Stake President for seven years. He served in the High Council, in both Panguitch and Garfield Stakes, and filled four Stake Missions. He served two missions to the Southern States from 1906 to 1908 and another with his wife to the Central Atlantic States from 1949 to 1950. Survivors include his widow; sons, daughters: Herman and Af ton Pollock, Mrs. (Jack) Ir . Mr. Samuel Pollock (Mae) Chynoweth and Mrs. Dean (Erma) Wintch, all of Tropic; Ilan Pollock, Panguitch; Mrs. Geff (Virginia) Gjevre, Reno; Mrs. Mike (Ver-dean) Skelly, Coleraine, Minn, arid LaMoine Pollock, Escalan-te; 31 grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren; brothers, Lor- am, Tropic, and Albert, Phoenix; sisters, Mrs. Jaroe (Lizy) Reynolds, Salt Lake, and Mrs. Elwin (Marie) Roundy, Meridian, Idaho. Funeral services will be held this Saturday at 2 p.m. in the Tropic Ward Chapel. Burial will be in Tropic Cemetery. |
